but even here, you have to delete each subscription by checking and unsubscribing.

I really dont want any mails lol. If i wanted mails , I'd join a mailing list, not a web forum.

My suggestion would be

1) make the box "Whenever someone replies to this thread, notify me by sending an email" unchecked by default

OR

2) make it user configurable from, say the my subscriptions page, and if the mods like it, keep it on by default.

Having to uncheck it every time i post, and having to delete the mails and unsubscrubing the threads is beginning to get annoying

I would say this feature is a useful one. It will tell you if a new post has come. So it saves you the time of coming and checking if a reply has come or not.

Plus, I guess this is part of all the major forums.

Using gmail will be a good option as it groups the mails. Plus you can use the filter+archive option also.

make it user configurable...

I would second this. In this way none would be disappointed. The option can be added on the Profile page.

@Feroz, giving Gmail ID is a better idea - you will soon realise the benefit (discussed before).

I have tried to change the e-mail id, unsuccessfully though…

E-mail ID cannot be changed by us.  It can be done by Banwari.
