I have an HONDA CITY ZX EXI 2006 1.5L engine Manual Transmission. When I start the car in the morning there is a very noticeable vibration during idlying (1200- 1400 RPM), it reduces when I shift into 1st gear & start driving. the vibration dissapears after 10 - 15 minutes. This happens in the vening if the car is not used fro around 10 - 11 hours. Kindly help with a solution. Thanks

In summary you get vibration if the car is unused for an extended period which disappears when you rev the engine (or after some period of driving). It should not be a serious problem. Get the oil checked/changed, belts inspected, and if possible, an engine check-up (injectors/spark plugs) at the service centre.

Oh and I forgot to mention the engine mounts (or the stuff which isolate the engine from the chassis).

Dont think it is a problem at all-the engine is idling at 1.4K as its cold and once warmed up the Idle RPM should come down to 900-1000rpm-this should be normal.

This may have become pronounced due to the cold weather.

During cold starts all cars are programed to idle at a little higher RPM and once warmed up to settle to the normal range.

In your case there can be two issues one is the weather and the other fueling. The latter can be sue to the bad quality of the recently filled petrol so some block(minimal) to the injectors.(sprakplugs/timing comes next in line).

Continous vibrations from the engine can be due to faulty foundation bushes(engine mounts).

In your case the problem resolves once the car is warmed up-hence the possibility of the rich mixture(more petrol) at cold starts being the cause is high.

How many KMs has the car run till now?Has the air filter been cleaned/replaced at a recent service?

Hi binoy, the car has clocked 25000, i will get everything checked at next servicing i.e. By end of month. I am filling fuel from same petrol station BP for several years now. However after servicing i will check on this issue. Is it good idea to mix unleaded petrol and speed or sepearate additive (any specific brand). Have never done this before. Thx.

Its best to use 'one kind of petrol'-normal petrol is more than adequate for all nature of use.
