Thanks Maverick for adding flavour to the dish. It is a good link with people having right opinions.

One thing emerges from the discussion over there. In the long run, when the volumes are justified, FIAT would have to open its own sales and service points one day.

This is not going to happen soon but would depend a lot on how its products seep in the minds of the fearful and apprehensive Indian customer.

Just imagine what would be sales of Linea or Punto if they were produced by Maruti. Fiat still carries a baggage of earlier failure in the minds of indian customer. Its a game of perception handling and it would take them at least 3 years to wash their earlier mistakes.

From their strategy , it appears that FIAT is working on Niche markets and Niche customers only in the beginning.

For 3 of their new products coming in near future , their product span would increase and then the "top 3" game would become interesting.

Decades back FIAT was gthe 2nd best car in volumes , this may not happen in near future, but if they take care of their After Sales Service, who knows this could be repeated this time too.

Regards

Rajnish Sharma

Someone in Bangalore said Fiat is getting geared up for their own service centres and stuff in no time.

I mean is it an authenticated news or just an air?Undecided

Dear Maverick, thanks for your views, my few comments are already there in this link. Those could be referred according though they are not for recommendations nor for guiding buying decisions too. I believe buying of such cars should not be a rat race , or a copy cat but a well informed and self-parameterised criteria based decision. Thanks & Regards Rajnish Sharma

Hi Maverick

As Rajnish said the decision on the car should start with

- how you plan to use the car (monthly usage, mostly one or two and occasional 4 or 5 passengers, city or highway or mountain drive etc)

- what is most importnat for you in the car - power & perforamnce, fuel efficiency, service cost, ride and handling, safety etc

Then based on what you need and what the different cars have to offer, choose the one that best suits you.

If you are looking for excellent fuel efficiency combined with performance (yes, performance in the usable range - refer my postings in carwale earlier) then Linea MJD is a good option.  Add to these the class leading suspension in the segment that gives excellent ride & handling combined with roadgrip and steering response.

One should look at monthly usage only if you are looking for a choice between petrol and diesel car of the same make.  Else you just need to compare the prices of cars and its features.

There is no such thing that you need to drive the diesel cars every month so many KMs. So when you get feature rich Diesel Linea at a price that is lesser than petrol ANHC, (coming with a bonus of lower fuel costs and service costs), the logic of driving for so many KMs per month does not apply and hence Linea comes out as a much better choice

Dear Victor, Maverick and all those who r stuck in choosing the preferred fuel option between diesel and Petrol.

In addition to all i haave been w.r.t the fuel preference, i have another apsect.

Choosing a car of Diesel or Petrol is purely a personal choice and comfort, I may have commercial aspects to it , but after talking and observing many people, i have found that different people pick different critieria to reach their own decision, in fact their logical mind already chooses the fuel option, but then they look for criteria by which then the decision is given a final touch.

Diesel or Petrol, its a matter of personal choice , economics may have a role to play but not always. Regards Rajnish

Well said Rajnish..for me it was the diesel engine after hvg been with a petrol one for over 6 years.. its been only a couple of months i hve had my diesel Linea and its out-performing my expectations. I have done around 4490 kms on around 200 litres of diesel. I have my AC on all the  time and have not stripped my vehicle off the spare tyre in the dicky. The drive consists of a 70% city and 30% highway drive to reach the 4490 mark. With Rs 1400 to a tank full of diesel makes me smile

Honda City is far superior car compared to many of the sedans .

Going for diesel car is advisable if running is high.

But performance wise Honda is definately ahead.
