@Vinayak

I too own a petrol fiat linea in delhi, the average consumption displayed is 7.7 and if the avg. is measured with the traditional method (tankfull to tankfull) it gives 12.

I went for the first servicing of the car this week itself and explained this issue to service ppl, they replied it might be a problem with the display meter, as the engine setting was perfect . They checked the engine with an equipment termed as examiner, this was nothing but a laptop wired to my car's engine which checked for rpm setting.

It seems that you don't understand the working of modern day computerised car and so is your mechanic.   Display  has no problem.  In simple mathematics,  Average fuel consumption = Distance travelled/fuel consumed, right.  To keep track of Distance travelled, on board computer, requires a reference point to measure the distance travelled.  It gets the  fuel info from the sensor.  Normally, when you fill the fuel tank, you take the odometer reading or reset the tripmeter.  Same time, you  also reset the Average meter (check owner's manual, how to do it).  When you will go for next fill-up, your display and calculatd will be same.  So far, if you never reset your display, it is giving the average since you bought the car.  Using your common sense, you can also use display to calculate the instantenous fuel consumption apart from average - try it.  Good luck

Guys I got my Fiat Linea Emotion Pk multijet (Vocal white) on 25th June Last thursday. Since then I have covered 410 kms and I must say that Car is a real rocker. Regarding Mileage, It also depends alot on ideal time during your drive. My car's odometer shows an average mileage of about 8.8 kms but If I make a rough Idea from the time I made a tank full then Car is giving me a mileage arround 13.5 kms. Which is not bad at all considering my high ideal time in the car. I noticed one thing, that if you pull your car at high RPM in gear 1 and 2 your odometer shows high mileage under Instanat consumption. It often reaches to 22 kmpl. and If you drive at low speed at high gear then instant comsumption even reaches down to 4 kmpl. The pickup of the car good. Not as good as that of Verna, which I already knew but it would give better mileage then verna. The car is fully loaded with most of the features that you desire + some bonus like Blue & me and FPS. The only cons. i faced is the Engine noise at higher RPM. I think Fiat could have done better to reduce the Engine nosie. But its manageable.

@ Sachin

I seriously think that your display is displaying the mileage fugures in unit l/100km rather than km/l. Please check.

Thanks everybody for the valuble info, this was of real help to me.

I changed consumption units to km/l and checked today i.e. 3 jul09, the avg. displayed is 16. As to achieve this target, instant consumption option was the primary key.

I am pretty confident now if car is driven using instant consumption option it will give more mileage.

I agree to Amit Even i changed the units of mileage consumption and got to see an average of 13.2 in the odometer. I am ok with this mileage as of now as There was too much of Ideal time during my drive and also I have found a lot many traffic jams during the run of 450 kms that i have covered so far.

Thanks Nimesh for your suggestion.

Sorry @Vinayak, @ Sachin & Other Linea Owners for me being not in touch with the thread for sometime.

Well, Unit change/update done by all of you is perfect. I did that thru' manual the very next day of procurement.

@ Vinayak, both the issues faced by you are also felt by me too. Believe me these are noticeable but not a problem.

Well readers, I am facing a problem which is currently being addressed by the dealer.

Few days back when temperatures at delhi crossed 45 deg, I found that my Car AC was not effective. In fact people sitting at rear seat used to sweat.

When I reported the matter to dealer , they did the following:

1]Refrigerant gas level was low

I did feel some improvement but still was not perfect.

2] AC Replacement kit has been ordered ( Condensor set, etc ).

Hope to get the AC chilling me up again. By the way the service levels are par -excellent.

Problems may come & go, ultimately its the response and its speed that matters.

Finally, I have been driving a bit on the highways. Its a dream come true to drive Linea on such roads. Well I had a average of 17.5 to 18 at a stretch of 400 kms. Not bad.

Also the drive quality is marvelous, excellent braking, smoothness, night driving is comfortable & enjoyable.

Many people are going for Linea after seeing my experience. At least 10 people have bought it- though I don't want to get/take any credit for it. Its their decision and not mine.

Anyways after driving around 2200km , I can say that my decision to buy Linea was correct.

It looked very risky in the beginning but now its OK. Resale value/ brand image I am still not so sure of. It would take some time for this.

As per some news , I think Linea sales are maintained at a normal pace. They are neither growing nor declining.

Happy driving to you all.

Your phone is not compattible with this feature of message reading by blue n me. See the Blue N Me manual you got with the delivery of car. Phones are mentioned there.
