Welcome Gaurav to CarWale.  I wonder how you could resist from not participating in the discussions though you followed the entire thing Smile

Do share your experience with the test-drive.  All the best.

Came to know that though there was a good response to the Linea in the first two months it has now slowed down and Honda City has picked up. Any idea on how the Linea is selling. It is important for buyers like me, else if the Linea does not sell, I'll have a car which won't sell and you can be assured of the after sales support infrastructure also vanishing. Any idea how many AN Honda City cars are selling and how many Linea are selling ?  What is the kind of average that one can expect on Linea Emotion Petrol ?

I have two questions

1 How does the Linea stack up against the AN Honda City ?

2. How is market perceiving the Linea?

The comparison between the Linea and the City is not straightforward!

The linea comes in both petrol and diesel engines while the city is just petrol.

The petrol Linea is a much inferior car compared to the city but the huge price difference pulls in a lot of buyers who see the VFM aspect.

The diesel Linea is priced closer to the City but the sort of buyers choosing the linea would be people looking for economy and not outright power and brand power(the latter priorities turning them to buy the city).

Linea Petrol would return mileage of 11-12 in city & 15-16 on highway (depending upon the driving conditions & style) - and so will the new City.

Honda sells better than Linea.  Linea Diesel is better & has its own market - sells more than Linea Petrol.

Thanks for your inputs. How does the SX4 compare with the Honda City. It is selling quite well and with the upper end of SX4 is also much cheaper than the City.

SX4 is a more VFM proposition than the new City that carries a lot of brand and status equity. Both are great cars, the City is better performer, the SX4 has a better ride.

FE would be lesser for the SX4 though.

Hello mates

I did Test drive Linea (Emotion Multijet Diesel)  today. Its an awsome car. I agree with the commercial "Admiration is Gauranteed"

I have query here regarding ABS.  As per my understanding a car with ABS would not skid at all. however when i Test drove Linea today I checked on the Braking part. At a speed of about 40 Kms i applied the hard brakes and the car did skid about 2 feets.. Is that normal ?

Binoy / pankaj, any comments ?

Hi Guys,

After going through all the discussion on this thread I finally took a test drive for the cars Linea and City.I drove a diesel Car for the first time in my life so actually I kind of like the Linea, it looks are amazing, its classy with all its curves and no sharp edges, is very spacious , interiors are good but they looked little tacky, the ride was smooth but inside the cabin I could hear a lot of vibrations and noise. So right now I'm again a still confused after the test drives.City on the other hand was a delight to drive, though its overpriced, you need to think a lot of time if you really want to make that much investment.Guys I need you to help me  out.

Thanks

Gaurav

Gaurav,

Diesel will always have some noise an that is reason I don't like Diesel car in general however people saying Linea Diesel is very good comapre to others.

I would suggest to go for Petrol, is is one lakhs cheaper and good ride. Engine power may feel less but it is enough for city drive.

If your total run per day is not much, I suggest to go for Linea Petrol. I did same and I am happy driving Linea Emotion Pk.

Udai
