What about a power steering ? From which can will I have to borrow ? Esteem ???
If I fit CNG kit (2nd hand will cost 10k amd new 27K) will it effect engine life & performance ?? Atleast the weight of the cylinder in the rear will smoothen the ride a bit by pressing the rear leaft springs (LOL).
I was just toying with the idea of selling this petrol engine off and buying and retrofitting a swift diesel ( fiat 1.3 or suzuki diesel) Its a lightweight engine so wont effect chassis much like old time conversions to Toyota Diesel or Nissan/Isuzu Diesel etc. Its just a far fetched thought. I am not sure if the gearbox of gypsy will be a direct fit to swift diesel engine.
Assuming it as Gypsy has esteem engine and swift also had esteem engine so gearbox fitment to engine would be similar with just some diff in gear ratios etc.. just a wild guess.
But if possible and if can be done it should be an easy job .... wuld have to look for a swift diesel engine either in Mayapuri or in Meerut .... Dunno how safe are these places to buy a 2nd hand engine ??????
These are just thoughts to convert my Gypsy to a real 4x4 Diesel beast... Has anyone seen this conversion. I dont want any other Diesel engine apart from the Maruti's current stable... so that the car can be serviced by Maruti Guys only and have to depend upon local mechanics for maintenance etc.
Can someone tell me what the three positions on the 2wh drive to 4 wh drive converter gear knob mean ?? To my mind they should be simple 2 wheel city drive , 4 wheel drive normal torque and 4 wheel drive high torque (for offroading or pulling loads etc) Can someone enlighten me on this as to what psition means what ??? I get 4WD light on in the speedo console on two positions out of the tree on twisting the smaller knob.
