Hi Sabareesh,

Thanks a lot for your information, I hv visited the Panagarh depot today only, there were lots and lots of Gypsies; Now, just only 4 of them are King, and the agent is demanding 115k for a 99 and 2000 model...

Rests of all are MG410 category, out of which one is 97 built and in running condition with 4WD alive, I have tested that one and the agent is demanding 70k for it…

Now the question is which one I should buy? (lol.. ) I m thinking for a 410.  Please let me know whether the prices are reasonable or not...

Does MG410 have a MPFI engine?

Thanks in advance,

Kalyan

The MG410W has the 1000 cc engine which was used in Maruti 1000, where has the MG413W has the 1.3 L engine used in the Esteem. Powerwise, the MG413W or Gypsy King would be a better option. The latter came with a MPFi engine post 2000. the MG410W always had carb-engine.

Have you visited an agent's showroom or the depot directly ??? You can always place a bargain if you visited an agent and he would reduce the costs depending on your bargaining skills.

Please send me the pics of the Gypsies so that I can check them and guide you accordingly. Do not forget to take pictures under the hood. You can send the pics to sabareesh2000@yahoo.com

Is it for sale (it sounds so)?  If so, you can register it for sale at CarWale - Sell Car - please go through the terms & conditions.

Sorry guys; I was a bit busy with my works and didn't get any time for updates... I hv checked the King with a mechanic and he found some defects. Here z the updates..

1. Chasis condition is good.. Laughing

2. All the doors and seats are damaged, need to replace; body condition is fair, though there are some rusted spots.. Undecided

3. The engine sound seems nice.. Laughing

4. Tyres are not in a position to run even a single mile.. Tongue out

5. They wouldn't provide battery with the car.. Frown

6. 4WD is alive and working fine.. Laughing

So my overall rating is 50% and I hv given a bid as 80K inclusive cost for all paper works; now waiting for his response, let's hope for the best.. Wink

About my Project SUV..

I hv discussed about the modifications and need some advise on it, here they goes..

1. A front facing folding seat in the back, and a folding seat fitted in the front as well. So that one can enter from back door and from the left front door as well..

2. LPG retro fitment.

3. Hard top.

4. AC.

5. Remove one leaf from suspension (the bottom one) and fit a shock absorber. Any idea about fitment of shock absorber?

6. Change the bumpers and the headlight set with three bulb set. My preferences for the headlight set and bumpers is of Chevy Tavera (width 1680mm whereas for Gypsy its 1540 mm), so the difference is 5.5 inch, is this modification is feasible?

7. Alloy wheel and 185/60 tubeless tyres.

8. Black body color.

9. Central locking.

10. A good quality sound system.

11. A new dashboard, but with the facility for AC and music system.

The mechanic estimated me with a cost of approx 130K, which is under my budget considerations.. But I need to check the feasiblity issue... Sealed

For the bumpers, headlight set, dashboard, shock absorber and folding seats I need to switch for the spares of some other cars, please suggest me with the best compatible fittings with any new innovative ideas., Please advise me whether these modifications are feasible or the mechanic is trying to make me full…

1. Chasis condition is good..

Did you get the vehicle lifted up on a Jack and check it ???

2. All the doors and seats are damaged, need to replace; body condition is fair, though there are some rusted spots..

Fair enough. Seatwork would not cost you that much.

3. The engine sound seems nice..

How much miles has the engine clocked ?? Did you check the Odo ??

4. Tyres are not in a position to run even a single mile..

Are the tyres totally bald or is there some life left in them ??? Please send me the pics, unless I see the condition, I cannot comment anything.

5. They wouldn't provide battery with the car..

Start hunting for a used battery from a nearby battery shop. Don't waste your money unnecessarily as of now.

80 K for such a vehicle seems to be a bit on the higher side. But still, please send me the pics and I can guide you completely. Don't get into restoring anything now. Wait till I see the pics and let me judge it.

Is the vehicle in running condition ??? Did you get a chance to test-drive it ???

1. A front facing folding seat in the back, and a folding seat fitted in the front as well. So that one can enter from back door and from the left front door as well..

If you are opting for a bench seat at the rear, there is no way that one can enter the vehicle from rear. The only option would be to keep a front foldable seat. If bucket seats or 60:40 split bench seats are installed at the rear then no need to keep the front seat foldable. Think about it and decide accordingly.

2. LPG retro fitment.

3. Hard top.

4. AC.

Ok, sounds good.

5. Remove one leaf from suspension (the bottom one) and fit a shock absorber. Any idea about fitment of shock absorber?

Don't do this, it would adversely affect the quality. You will have to accomodate the brackets on chassis and for this welding from a highly skilled mechanic is recommended. Even then, the success of this modification is doubtful. Again, I cannot assert anything till I see the pics and understand the mechanism of installing this shock absorber.

6. Change the bumpers and the headlight set with three bulb set. My preferences for the headlight set and bumpers is of Chevy Tavera (width 1680mm whereas for Gypsy its 1540 mm), so the difference is 5.5 inch, is this modification is feasible?

I would suggest you to opt for a better bulb on the exsiting headlight set. Get the mechanicals done first. Cosmetics can always follow later.

7. Alloy wheel and 185/60 tubeless tyres.

The stock tyre size for Gypsy is 205/70R15. By opting for 185/60, your cornering would be affected, there would be a lesser ground contact of the tyre with road hence traction would go for a toss. Also your Ground Clearance would reduce.

Stick to 205/70 R 15 tubeless tyre size and opt for alloys.

8. Black body color.

9. Central locking.

10. A good quality sound system.

Ok, can be done.

11. A new dashboard, but with the facility for AC and music system.

The existing dashboard has the facilities for accomodating A/C controls and blower, why do you want to spend money on a new dash ??? Music System can be placed easily inside the glove box.

The mechanic estimated me with a cost of approx 130K, which is under my budget considerations.. But I need to check the feasiblity issue...

Cost looks a wee bit high to me. Take a proper breakdown from him and list each and everything which he is gonna work on and the cost included.

Kalyan, I would suggest you to get your Gypsy mechanically in place first. Cosmetic mods can always follow later. Get the body work done in the driest months. Send me the pics so that I can guide you in totality. Please do not waste your hard earned money in something which might not be fruitful after all the hardwork that you have done. Contact me on sabareesh2000(at)yahoo.com so that I can guide you
