Help me decide! my running would be around 1000km per month. I would look for lesser maintenance and good Fuel efficiency. good interiors and ambience for cars in this segment would be an added advantage. I am looking for a vechile under 4.5 lac.

if possibel go for VIsta Quadrajet diesel engine , or else the TDi will make better sense rather than to go for a petrol engined one , coz for ur usage diesel is most prefered!

Cheers!!!

thanks for the reply.

Is the mileage of TDi version better than A-star? I have read elsewhere - http://www.motorbeam.com/cars/maruti-a-star-cars/maruti-a-star-mileage/

A-star will give a mileage upt o 19 kmpl, is that beilievable?

Well the figure wont be better.

But you have to take it into account that TDI is a diesel car.

19 is A* was attained under testing conditions. The best we have attained by carwale members is 17. This was before first service. We hope to see better figures.

A* can be taken if you dont have much requirement for boot and if you have only kids occupying the rear seat. For 3 adults in the rear it would be tight.

Just found another thread with almost the same query as me

Another one, which gives the approx. mileages: http://www.carwale.com/forums/ViewThread-5124-p1.html

I understand the space in vista is more than Astar, rather both cant be compared in terms of space.

I went around to have a look at the A*. It looked quite sporty and with clean interiors. Maybe the looks and the maruti tag got me attracted to it.

I wont be able to afford a vista quadrajet, so will have to stick with the TDi and no power windows.

Majeed, I have seen your thread about your swift with Binoy giving a lot comments, guess maybe it would help a lot newbies like me.

Also, I am just got interested in cars when I started looking one for myself, so please treat in my comments in that light of a noob.

Mateen,

I was also a noob when I came into this forum(Now i am between noob and amateur). This forum will educate you a lot.

My thread was me and my cars journey from scratch. It has has information which will help a lot for a car buyer. Almost a-z is discussed over there(including my idiotic questions).

A* does have better interiors than Vista. You were not influenced. Wink

Try harder to get quadrajet. It is miles ahead of TDI. You'll feel it when you drive.

Milage of TDi Vista would be around 12 - 13 in city and around 16- 17 im highways under normal city traffic condition and this will also depend on the driving style n habbit!

the Quadrajet Vista would give around 13 - 15 in city and 17 - 18 in highways! moreover the quadrajet engine is more advanced , refined and is the same engine that is used in the hot selling Swift Diesel and also the PAlio Diesel!

try hard for the quadrajet if not then TDi would do!

Cheers!

-i thought the TDI gave better city mileage?

-buying the vista diesel(TDI/QJ) makes better sense with a monthly running of 1K.

well buddy not so in case of the Vista , though it has the same engine of the Indica Turbo , it gives slightly less milage due to the Kerb wieght of the Vista! whereas the Quadrajet gives slightly better milage when compared to TDI Vista , but Quadrajet also gives slightly less milage when compared with the milage of Swift Diesel! ( am sorry buddy , i know you are a better expert than me , sorry for my bothering )
