LET ME REFRAME THE QUESTION : ... what used car to buy with a budget of 5-6 lacs if monthly running is about 1000kms .... i would not prefer a diesel .... car to be sold after 3 years... average of 10+ acceptable..

-Accord is a sensible buy-ut even the 2.4 is extremly thirsty giving about 7-8kmpl in the city!

-resale would be good though, so would be class and comfort levels.

-there is no diesel variant so the Accord is automatically out!

Others to consider-

-Optra magnum diesel(hard to get-but a great buy)

-Skoda Octavia(very good-quite high on maintenance)

-Elantra(poor resale-otherwise good)

-threre are a few SUV's also-like the safari and the endeavour and the scorpio

2.4 is that thirsty ???? even the vtec ???? i was expecting 10ish average... how good is the corolla...

frankly the cars that i like are :

corolla

cedia

accord...

which one would be available.. coz i think the cedia is hard to find... and the corolla should land to about 4lac...

-the corolla or an early civic might be the best way to move forward.

For your kind of requirement, i will sugeest to go for corrrola. It is a perfect all rounder car. Civic si good but it will not come in the budget. you will easily get 2003-04 corrola in your budget. Try to find lower run car. Accord is class above, so is the maintanance. It is thirsty too. Cedia if available it will not fatch better resale after 3-4 years down the line. So corrola is the best buy. All the best.
