I personally, as an individual & a member, feel that e-mail IDs of members should be made available to the moderators by way of displaying those in the members’ profiles.  This I suggest, as it would help moderators to communicate off the forums with the members, in case of need, to discuss reservations (rare & absolute), if any, to avoid any likely embarrassing situations in the forums.

Moderators will, however, ensure that facility is utilized sparingly, only in case of necessity, and would communicate judicially – without meaning any offense to the member/s concerned.

Like-wise, for the same reasons, even members may sometimes feel the need to communicate with the moderator/s, and also to draw his/their attention to some such discussions/threads.  Therefore, e-mail IDs of moderators should also be made available to all the members by way of displaying those in the moderators’ profile.  Needless to add, members too will also have to restrict communication in case of necessity only.

The above has no reference to facility of Personal Messaging, as suggested by a few members elsewhere.  PM facility, if being considered, may be done on a different platform.

@Banwari, I know this could be made available to moderators without the knowledge of members but I have purposefully put-forth as a suggestion in order to have transparency with the members.

@ Pankaj ji,

"The above has no reference to facility of Personal Messaging, as suggested by a few members elsewhere.  PM facility, if being considered, may be done on a different platform"

While referring 2 dis facility, do u mean facilities like yahoo messenger, where u can see who is onln, pose ur queries & get d answers immediately?

If yes, then dat really wud be gr8, cuz sometimes if d queries are put forth in d evening on a friday, people like me get 2 see d answers only on Monday cuz of unavailability of net at homeCry

Rishita,

It can be messenger service also. But I think what Pankaj was pointing at was a the facility to send personal message/short email. This will be stored in CarWale with an email notification sent out.

(My view on how it would work)

Pankaj,

I got your point. But I feel, it's more or less similar to Personal Messaging. In personal messaging too, you will get to notify any person. However, we can always discuss if there is any advantage of having email address over the PM system.

A PM system with email notification would do. A person who checks email regularly would get notified plus carwale can keep track of the messages sent.

As I understand, PM is under consideration - I do not know to what extent & when.  We can have this now & later modify with PM or whatever.  Anyway, give a thought.

Not a bad idea. Let me check with my team as when will it be done and I will back to you, Pankaj. If it's taking too much time, I will publish email-id of users to the moderators and other qualified users. I am worried about privacy policy though. Not every member would like to give away his email address, not even to moderators or CW as such. Let's see!

Yes, I understand & that's the reason I posted it as a suggestion in the open forum (in the name of transparency).

Anyway, explore the possibility & do the needful if possible.  It's not an issue, as such.
