As discussed before, Italian Kits are known to be best.  Some of the popular ones I've heard of are Lovato, BRC, Landi Renzo, Bedini, OMVL & Tomasetto.  These are all RTO/Government approved but the approvals are car & model specific.  It will, therefore,  remain to be seen/ascertained as to which one/s is/are approved for your car.

It may cost around 35-40K.

Hi Everyone,

You guys are doing a great job here. I was looking for information about CNG kits for my WagonR 2005 LXi and got a wealth of information on this forum.

On the advise of this forum, I contacted both EcoGas people and a 'Maruti Authorised' fitter - Rohan Motors for information on the kit and costs. I got the following figures (includes 12kg cylinder + Lambda system + RC endorsment etc.):

EcoGas

  1. Kit: Tomasetto; Cost: 30k
  2. Kit: Lovato, Landi Renzo; Cost: 29.5k

Rohan

  1. Kit: BRC; Cost: 42.5k

As you can see, EcoGas is cheaper but I could not find any review of how good (or bad) they are. I spoke to Mr. Thakur and he was helpful enough but if somebody who has dealt with them can share his/her thoughts it will be great. I was also advised (rather strongly) on installing Tomasetto as it is supposed to be the BEST kit for Indian roads in WagonR. Is this correct?

People at Rohan, on the other hand were pushing for BRC as they said even Maruti factory-fitted CNG vehicles (Alto CNG for example) are going to use BRC kit. My question is - is it significantly better than other kits in the market? Would it makes sense to put extra 12.5k for Maruti Authorised CNG kit?

Another question is regarding resale value of the car. Will it go up or down after installation of CNG kit?

Thanks

Gaurav

Hi Gaurav,

i Got cng kit installed in my 1.3litres Getz last week from Ecogas. the kit installed is LandiRenzo, they have installed Lambda sensor, timing advancer and emanulator(dont know what it does). they have intalled it upto my satisfaction. rest i also have to check in the long run. this is true that there is some difference in driving the vehicle on CNG with AC but without AC you will hardly realise the difference. rest i guess they might give a good service. if you get to know someone better or some other reviews of Ecogas then please let me know as well.

Cheers

Rahul

Hi Varun / Sanjay / Pankaj / all,

Yesterday I have fitted Tomesto Kit from ECO GAS , Pataparganj with following accesories

Lambda + Timing Advancer = 3000/-

13 Kg Cylinder ( 65 Liters - Many Shopkeeper call that as 14 KG ) - 1500/- Extra for 13 KG (Normal is 12 KG)

Kit Cost - 24000/-

Total 28500/- with out RC endorsement

Till now my experience is good ,

but when I Drive the car on CNG then I felt that Drastic change in Pickup. When I asked this thing from mechanic then He told me that after 1000 KM he will retune the Kit & then Pick up will improve.

I will update you on more. As Just one day passes after the kit installation.

I think it's Exteem (VXi).

Amit, power loss on CNG will always be felt. Performance will not match with that of Petrol. It will not matter much in normal driving conditions/style. You will soon get used to pick-up/acceleration.
