Tool for comparison of Service & Maintenance Cost

Presently we have database/tools giving prices, specifications, features etc. and comparisons amongst the cars.  These & like-wise data available elsewhere are taken as base for discussion.  There’s no difference of opinion, therefore - and the discussions are beyond the facts & figures.

 

Like-wise, database/tools are available for resale value, insurance premium, EMI Calculator etc.  Though the data/output available in these cases may not be 100% accurate for obvious reasons, the same are, however, taken as base for discussions – difference of opinion, if any, is by & large negligible.

 

All these data/tools play important roles in the forums – to the askers as well as the members participating in the discussions.

 

One such important aspect is service & maintenance cost of the cars.  I suggest if we can have a database/tool for comparing the cost of service & maintenance of cars – like other comparisons presently available.  This will not only help in having meaningful & unbiased discussion but will also help in giving references wherever necessary. 

 

Given the infrastructure/database already held for other purposes, I feel developing the said database/tool may not be a very tedious job.  In any case, in order to avoid the possible complications in programming/developing the tool, the comparison/output may be based on the cost of service & maintenance applicable in one particular city only, say Mumbai – as the difference/comparison would obviously stand true for other cities too. Besides, the comparison/output may consist of only important aspects/heads in consolidated forms (item-wise details are not required).

Thanks for the highly valuable suggestion. You will not believe, we have almost finished working on the prototype of Cost of Ownership application. Also the entire database building process is complete. The only thing remains is the software to implement the application. I believe within three weeks, this application will be live for public use.

You never know. Keep suggesting is a better idea than presuming that they will be done automatically. Bug me if it is not done in three weeks. ;)

Banwari, any update?  It seems the software implementation has been held-up due to some problem/bug.

There's another such suggestion - purpose is same.
