I guess the query was on the type of power assistance to the steering system in the Spark-which i guess is Hydraulic.

Have a look at this (scroll the page down).

Honesty is not a Spare Wheel that you pull out when in trouble. It's a Steering Wheel that keeps you on the right path throughout the life's journey.

Well it only mentions 'Rack and pinion with power assisted'-which does not answer the question by the asker.

Rack and Pinion is a type of steering linkage mechanism and has nothing to do with power steering.

Power steering is a general term-which can be Hydraulic or Electric-which is been asked to clarify in case of the Spark.

Am not sure about the spark-but somewhere deep down i had made a mental  note that only maruti provides EPS in budget cars-hence the Hydraulic as the answer.

I understand.  My idea to provide link was to highlight that the power assistance in Spark is ‘Standard’, i.e. Hydraulic (HPS).  Electric (EPS) is used in Maruti cars.  EPS doesn’t have Oil, Pump & Values (right/left), like HPS has.

Rack & Pinion is common mechanism for most of the cars, I suppose.

HPS is older & most common, and therefore termed as 'standard'.  EPS, as we all know, is modern/subsequent implementation.

I guess there are four types
1-HPS-Santro
2-EPS- Maruti cars
3-Electronic - Hyundai i10
4-E-HPS - Got in this thread

Good you have put up this topic. Would soon write an article on it.

The Electric and Motor are the same. And in electronic one, you can call it the thinking electric motor.

I would go for electronic power steering. It's lighter and easy to operate.

EPS & Electronic are same.

EHPS is hybrid system wherein hydraulic pressure is provided by a pump driven by an electric motor.

Is there a reference for this-or is tis an arbitrary term pairing?

"Standard' for Maruti cars would be EPS.

I've no reference to it - couldn't find one

But, in my opinion, it's logically (not arbitrarily) termed as 'standard' (for the reasons stated before).

Yes, for Maruti EPS is 'standard'.

This post is edited to remove improper reference to 'Power Assisted - Standard' (as in the previous link for Spark), as the same is referred for Maruti Cars also.
