Hi friends,
Hope you are doing fine.I am planning to buy my first car.
I m from calcutta and my budget is 4 to 5.5 Lacs. This is going to be my first car.

My crieteria are
1. A true 5 seater comfortable familiy car.
2. Mileage of 10 in city is okay.
3. Good interior
4. Make - Maruti or Hyundai
5. Petrol car

I will keep a driver and I personally prefer sitting at the back seat.

Which is the best car for me?

If I go for getz prime should I take 1.1 or 1.3?

Also can anyone please tell what made swift a blockbluster and getz a bit flop when many of the entry-level sedan buyer's could have purchased this gem? As per my knowledge Getz prime offers more legspace and shoulder space than Aveo-UVA, SX4, Accent, Ikon, Fiesta, Aveo.

Cheers,
Supratik

from your options definitely go for swift. Don't go for gets. Its not getting any sales for Hyundai. Moreover if you can wait then go for i20 which will be coming in Jan next year. I think swift back seats are not comfortable.Besides, you can look for i10 if u want to purchase abhi hi. All your criteria above listed is completely satisfied by i10 & Maruti Swift. i10 will give 10+ in city.i have doubts for Swift Petrol. If it gives 10 then wont give more than 10. Both makes are no problem. Both have excellent after sales.

Hi Kartik,

Thanks a ton for your reply. As it will be my first car I don want to go for a new model like i20. Also I m not much confident about the rare space in Swift. What is the weak point for Getz prime 1.3 GVS?  I believe quite the same price for swift VXI.

I am looking into i10. If there is enough space I will have a test drive.

Cheers,

Supratik

As far as the 3 cars are concerned, Getz has more space/comfort for 5 people (your prime concern).  You could alternatively consider Logan (not from Maruti/Hyundai) - very comfortable/spacious & a sedan.

Small point to add, Getz cant be totally called a flop.
I maybe going out of context. Adding Indica Vista saffire into that list would good and also the new i10 kappa.

Indica Vista has humongous space. I am not exaggerating. Power is not great compared to swift.

I am swift owner and am quite satisfied with it. I am also getting decent mileage.

Pankaj and Binoy: Can we add vista saffire into the list of probables.

@Ameen, welcome to forum outside spares & accessories   Hope you do that often. Thanks.

i10 isn't spacious/comfortable for 5 people but Vista Safire is definitely. I haven't driven/test-driven Vista but I'm given to understand that its engine (Fiat) is really good.

Yeah Indeed Welcome Ameen.hahaha.... i10 is indeed spacious for 5 people.3 adults can comforatbly come at the back seat. Its just safire has more space in comparison,so its more spacious. But that doesnot mean ki i10 has less space for 3 people at the back

Oh yes, 3 adults can be accomodated on the rear seat of i10 but it is basically not a '5-seater family car' as per Supratik's preference (post #1).

Anyway, he's going to test-drive i10 & if the space suits him, i10 would be a better choice, for sure (all in all).

I'll also back Pankaj on that one. By indian norms usually family car needs to accommodate 4 ppl at the back. (Sorry for the exaggeration).

On that aspect only vista will be fine.
