Hi friends,

I want to fit a reverse car sensor in my Hyundai i20 Magna.. my car is currently at Hyundai Authorised workshop for some denting+painting work, so I wanted to get the reverse parking sensor installed from them simultaneously.. But the authorised workshop is saying that the Hyundai Genuine reverse parking sensor comes only in Black colour..and my car is silver coloured, so it will look odd to have black sensors on silver bumper.. I want to buy the sensor from authorised workshop only as I have some money pending with them which I want to use asap.. the reverse parking sensor is costing arnd Rs. 4k and it is a basic one with 4 rear sensors and an additional mirror with LED indicator that fits on top of existing RVM.

Now I asked them if they can paint the sensors in silver, but they are saying that the sensor will loose its sensing capabilities if painted, and also the paint comes off after few washes as the sensor surface is very slippery and smooth, so the paint won't stick to it the way it does on bumpers.. so can someone, who has already got sensors fitted in their car, help me with this..and confirm that the colour will come off from sensors after few washes.. and if this is the case, what should I do?

Thanks

Rahul

AFAIK, he black sensers absolutely do not look bad on any color bumpers. However this is my personal opinion. And getting it painted is very bad idea. It will definitely reduce the sense of the sensor and your money goes waste. Personally, I would go with the black one. If I really want to change the color, I may use some silver color stickers on the senser body which do not block the sensor area. Just a thought. Hope it helps.

One more thing I would like to add is that when I inquired about maximum and minimum sensing distance of the Hyundai genuine sensors, I was told below:

Max - 1.5 mt

Min - 6 inch

Are these decent specs? I was told that once the car reaches within 6 inch distance while reversing, the LED display will reflect zero, and the beeping will be at max volume.

I installed autocop reverse parking with 4 sensors, and ivrm display for my sx4. Including installation, at the price of 4200. I think i got ripped off at that price.
