The very first point has to be taken in every sense, it is very IMPORTANT. Never mess up with Mother nature.

If you get stuck, politely pull back and then try again, do not rev hard or try to push your and machine limits. You may only dig deeper and get yourself stuck badly. This would not only waste your time, money, patience, and damage to vehicle but also waste others time and energy. Besides this you would have rendered the trail useless for others.

Read each point, written above, understand them and then read them again.

Also it's good and make it a practise to check the trail before hand by alking, if you can do it easily without hiccups, then the vehicle can do it. Do check for bumps, stones, steps, trench, pits, so that you are able to manoevure your vehicle properluy and accordingly.

Another gr8 point mentioned above is Never tackle an incline or decline sideways.

This is the biggest mistakes most of the people make. You can roll over if you do that. Also do not use CLUTCH while climbing or coming downhill, if you are using 4wd vehicle ;)

Thanks a lot Sabareesh, I hope you will keep educating all of us. Thanks for the beautiful tips.

Regards

...RR

Hi Rahul,

Great to see you here. I have shared whatever little knowledge I have gained from stars of the Indian Off-roading community like UBS, Arka, Behram sir etc. As of now, my JEEP is in hibernation and hands are itching to get it back to where it belongs.

Hows you, hows the Gurkha doing ? I missed meeting you at the alibaug OTR, had some pre-committed work hence couldn't join EXO's.

Cheers

Sabareesh

However, I have a different question for you here. What are your favorite spots for offroading in India, preferably north India?

Himanshu,  we usually go near Gurgaon and the site near DND.

Any time you feel just PM or alternatively give a call and you can drop in at our next OTR.

The best guy to answer this question has already answered. Since I am from Mumbai, I have limited knowledge about off-road trails in and around Delhi NCR. You can touchbase with Rahul and rest assured that you will enjoy a company of niche off-roaders from North India.

NIOC (North Indian Off-road Club)  surely has some of the finest off-road enthusiasts in the country and you can learn a lot from them. As Rahul said, you can attend a couple of off-roading trips with them as a passenger to get a feel of this sport. Once you get adept to it, you can start hunting for a 4x4 and join them.
