Hi,
I want to buy my first car .
I want to choose between Santro, Spark, Zen Estilo and if I can stretch A little bit then I-10,
I have My wife and my one yr old son , I will be using this for Daily office and weekend shopping and once a while for long drive ( May be once in a month or two month).
Myself and my wife both are not New  drivers still learning . I want a car which can be easily driven by myself and my wife.
Important Points are As Under
1- Fuel Economy( Most Important Factor)
2-Less expensive spare parts and fewer service/maintenance costs
3-Driving comfort within the city , Highways and for bad roads also
4-AC,Power Steering,Power Window,Boot Space should be good
5- Height Of Driver - 5-3'' to 5-5''
6- Budget 3.5 to 4.5 lacs ( At the Max 4.8)
7-Resale Value after 4-5 years
Personally I and my wife like Santro, But I dont have much expertise and we are confused .
It will be great if you can suggest any other car in this budget with good fuel economy.
Thanks in Advance
Pradeep Tripathi

Hi,

I will recommend you Spark! Now points you mentioned:

1. Fuel Economy: Spark, Estilo, Santro (If i10 ..well, Generally i10 will give you upto 12kmpl with a.c. in city).

2. Spare Parts: Every car is almost similar as far as spares are concern, I have checked the prices its almost similar, maintenance of every small car is more or less similar. Comparision of part prices.. Spark & Others? look here

3. Driving comfort: Test drive all 4 and see in which car you are most comfortable and in which car your family is more comfortable at rear.

4. A.c., Power windows, check out Top model of Spark .. Spark LT, the best Value for your money. Boot,.... well boot is not good but you will get 60:40 folding rear seat to carry more luggage occasionally.

5. Height of Driver, Test Drive every car to know in which you are comfortable, I used Santro and wagon-r and now in small, I am using Spark LT, I am 5'8" and I am comfortable in Spark. Wagon-r is the best for tall people.

6. Budget: In delhi you will get Spark LT @3.75lacs on road including Cashless ownership offer (You need not to pay for next 3 years/45000 kms.).

7. Resale value: You will definitely get good resale value from Spark too, I checked it and the differenc between Wagon-r & Spark with same model and similar running was around 15000/- which is not too much and specially the price difference between both. Also, I would like to add one more point, Now Spark is selling in good no.'s too, At orkut I have seen today that last month the sales no. of Spark was 4390 units (The best after its launch), that shows that car is selling now coz its more than a year now and No- Problem car. So, in future I am expecting that resale will be better.

Now about i10, hyundai is providing the best interiors in i10, best in class and definitely better than few premium hatch and entry level sedans but other features, well... you can get better features in less price if you will opt for Spark, Spark is Value For Money!

People dont change when you tell them that there is a Better option... They change when they realise that there is No Other Option..

Briefly speaking... i10 Magna, as suggested by Binoy, is the best choice, as per your budget & preferences.

Test-drive (with family) all the cars under reference before you decide.

Hi all,
Thanks for your response.
What about Santro Xing GLS  as it is coming  in approx same price as Spark. Why Spark is better than Santro when price is approx same.
and I-10 is aprrox 70,0000 costlier than Spark and Santro.
What are additional features in I-10 which is not in Santro/Spark.

I have few doubts as mentioned below
1- Does Santro Xing GLS can be provisioned with rear power window If Yes then how much it will cost
2- What is benefit of Tachometer in I-10
3-What is the Ground clearance of Santro and I-10 , I could not find this in Hyundai Site.
4-Suppose I Decide to purchase Santro what are the accessories which can be put in car afterwards and what will be approx prcie for the same.
5-What are the features/Specs which Santro does not have in comparision to Spark and I10 Magna 1.2 except Rear Power Window,Digital Clock,ABS,Airbag,
6-Valve Mechanism in I10 is DOHC but in Spark SOHC what is this and what is impact of this. and what about Santro . It is SOHC or DOHC
7-  What is effect of Count of  "Valves per Cylender" ? it is  3 in Santro  but Spark has 2 and I-10 has 4 .
8-Which one has better milage in City Santro Xing GLS, Spark Lt or I-10 Magna 1.2

Please suggest your views

Have a look at this comparison amongst the cars under reference that you could consider in your budget.  Please also go through the Specifications & All Features.

It will help you in narrowing down your choice based on your preferences.  We can discuss thereafter.

Hi,
I have checked link provide by you.
But It is showing that Chevrolet Spark 1.0 LT  does'nt have tubeless tyres.
But I think Spark does Have tubeless tyres.?
and ground clearance of Hyundai Santro Xing GLS is reflecting as 172 CM but I think it 164 cm.
and which one has better Millage in Spark, Santro , and Wagon-R, I10-ERA, and I10-Magna-1.2.

all the cars will have mileage within 1-2kmpl of each other-so choosing the car only on the mileage terms is futile.

if you can budget for a i10 thats the safest buy
