hi,

I am planning for a New Car in year 2009 [ I don't own any]. I am 6 feet taller and want enough riding comfort. More concerned about running cost [i.e. mileage and maintenance] and also thinking of dual fuel option. My budget is up to 3.5 lakhs [Weather power steering is real requirement??.  I can drop this option to limit my budget ].
I am waiting for A-star in market and eyeing on Spark / santro Xing too. Please suggest me a car excluding Alto and Maruti 800.

@ gajanan,

for u as per now spark seems the best option to buy as it easily fits in ur budget & is a very good car, if u can wait than wait for the a-star as it will be launched very soon & than tale any decision.

for dual fuel option, tell us what is ur monthlu usage & wat are the main priorities u r looking in a car. this could help us to suggest u accordingly.

True. It was covered yesterday by ToI as well (& others).  Besides, the matter surfaced in news earlier also but not with the details.

Hi Guys,
There are a lot of news about future bankruptcy in near future.
I have finalised for Spark , What you guys suggest, OPtions as below
1-should I wait for some more time.
or
2-should I go for Santro ,
or
3-it does'nt  matter i should go ahead and get it delivered.
or
4- should I wait for Maruti A-Star

Please check these articles and give your honest opinion.
What will be impact , If it become bankrupt.

Well, I suggest differently...

Go through the entire discussions & assess all the aspects afresh & impartially.  Thereafter, ask yourself the following questions...

  • Is Spark the best choice/car?
  • Is Spark worth the risk?
  • Can I spend a little more for a better car?

Be clear & honest to yourself - there's no point in getting confused.

I like Spark, There is no doubt in that ,  My question is  what will happen If GM declared itself Bankrupt , What will be impact on GM car owners?

  • Is Spark the best choice/car?- Yes ( For this price range but Santro is another alternative )
  • Is Spark worth the risk?- Dont Know what is the  risk involved.
  • Can I spend a little more for a better car?- May be one more month

All this news of GM going bankrupt is pretty premature. Also note that the Detroit 3 are not the only companies at risk.

GM owns a significant stake in Suzuki-so does that mean suzuki will go down with GM-there are about 2.5million jobs linked to GM and Ford in the US and the Americans wont let that go bust nor will they tarnish the image of these American Icons.

The spark is nothing but a refurbished Daewoo Matiz-which went bust but still people kept on using them. A bankrupt GM might have a controlling stake hold by another car firm(like Porsche/Toyota)-so all this is not an all or none phenomenon.

Personally i would wait for the A-star

@Pradeep, your question on GM going bankrupt or the risk involved is appropriately answered by Binoy.

Regarding my 2nd question on whether Spark is worth the risk, I actually mean the uncertainty (which again is covered in Binoy's reply).

Regarding my 1st question on whether Spark is the best choice/car, I personally disagree with your re-assessment keeping in view the comparisons that have been discussed including on engine specifications (all aspects).  However, I sincerely agree it's a VFM for the price it comes - but that doesn't make it the best choice/car.

Regarding my 3rd question on whether you can spend a little more for a better car, I mean in reference to your budget (not time).  As I understand from the discussions we have had before, your budget is not a constraint - it's a little flexible.

Therefore, keeping all aspects in mind, if I were you, I would have gone for i10.

If I can go for i-10 then why not Swift VXI only 20K price difference.
which will be better in  swift VXI and  i10-sportz.
1- Milage
2-Spare and Maintenance
3-Driving comfort
4-any other imp point
