Dear Pradeep, For your kind of requirement, wait for A-star to be launched in 15-20 days. It has all the required attributes you need in your car at a very low price. If you can't wait, close your eyes and go for Spark- LT. All the best.

Hi Pradeep, I will try to clear your doubts

1. Yes, you are right I heard the same and even I faced such problem in Odometer, need to fix the clock every morning, Actually GM received a whole lot of faulty odometers, I reported the problem at the time of 5000kms. service and the service guy told me that we dont have odometers in stock its on way now, after 2 days I got call and when I went there, they replaced the odometer Free of Cost. I have driven over 19460 kms. and my meter is showing 5200kms. less

2. Aerodynamic? well its the shape .. aerodynamic shape .. Estilo having the best.. but for your reference... I was reading a review about Spark way back and I read this... somehow I saved that page in favourties... A reduced curb weight and more aerodynamic styling further improve the Spark's low drag co-efficient of 0.342 giving it the best fuel efficiency of any vehicle in the market. I am not technical may be Binoy can tell us better about this low drag co-efficient of 0.342 ... his knowledge is too good. What I know that Spark's aerodynamic styling is good and I am getting good mileage of 14kmpl (better than what I was getting from Wagon-r & Santro to d max. 12kmpl).

3.  LT is here @3.75lacs on road, I tried to call the executive but he is not reachable now. Will try to collect info tomorrow.

4. Its always good to have some additional safety features (Airbags & ABS), If u will travel alot on highways, you can go for Optional, ABS is very good feature but generally for our type of roads ABS is not necessary, its usefull for Wet conditions and hills. Again, Its upto us to drive carefully if its raining... Drive slowly & carefully. But go for optional pack. I also heard that mileage reduced with alloys upto 1kmpl... But optional is good.

5. My car's handle color is almost black, I reported the problem and the service guy told me for another visit, till date I am driving in same condition (not getting time) I guess at the time of painting the same, the guy missed primer.

6. I have covered of 19000 kms. till date without any problem. The car is very good.

As far as Gear ratio is concern, its upto driver to drive the car in proper gear ratio as per speed of the car. As far as spark is concern, you can drive it in 3rd gear @18-20 kmph without knocking. Test drive to check what I am telling u is correct or not.

Regards,

Rajiv Parashar

Thanks rajiv for clearing so many doubts, regarding price of spark LT is it 3.75 including  COO or excluding COO.
What accessories i should bargain with. Here he is offering me 3.84 including COO and he is giving accessories like Seat  cover, steering cover, perfume, fllor mat, mad plate .
Is it good deal , or can i bargain further.

I think it is not wise to  go for Spark LT optional , if because of alloy wheels milage is reduced.
i will be mainly driving within the city

Alloy wheels does not reduce fuel efficiency at all

-at the most it will improve but in no way reduce-more over the reduction in the unsprung weight will result in better steering feel and handling(as the comparable alloy wheel is much lighter than a steel wheel which comes as standard).

About cd ratio -'aerodynamic feature' - dont have comparable values for the other A segment cars so cannot comment on the same.

It is just the resistance offered by the car while travelling through air-layman terms 'air resistance'.

The lower the value-more aerodynamic the car-less the drag and hence more efficiency.

Sedans have values nearer to .30 and something like the Toyota Prius values of .26!

Hi binoy
What is CD ratio , is it same as gear ratio. And how can i find these values for a particular car, What is Best -economy-Gear change-band ..for  Spark ..??? wat does this  mean...???

cd -stands for coefficient of drag

-it denotes the resistance offered by the air on the movement of the car!

- it depends on the shape of the car/undertray etc

this is something which need not be considered at all.

-the sales person bringing all this up should be given a nice 'technical rap on the head' for saying the cd ratio is important while buying the car.

Spark and other hatchs wont be having good cd ratio's at all!

Gear change band

-appropriate(ideal) speeds at which each gear of the car should be used.-not only for economy but for engine and drivetrain longevity

it will be given in the manual of the car that you buy!

Gear ratio's are entirely different thing

Hi Binoy ,
Thanks for these technical information. You have very good knowledge of auto cars. Do u know any good site where one can find some information about technical details of auto car.. I had one more query what is impact of " No of valves per cylinder" . it is 2 in Spark, 3 in Santro and 4 in I-10. What is the significance of this .

Spark, Santro & i10 all have 4 cylinders.  Spark has 2 valves per cylinder, Santro has 3 & i10 has 4.

More the cylinders & values the better it is.  Like Binoy  has stated elsewhere, cylinders work like lungs while values like nostrils.
