now coming to the point,i have a pioneer 3090 in my alto which i drive occasionally....front sony speakers n rear jbl !!!! now i want to upgrade.... i really liked the pioneer 6050,but the prob is its costing me 13000 with b&w....and,the grey market price is 8000.... i heard this HU has some problems with the belt of its motorised panel....also am worried what if there is some prob after i buy it.... 5090 is costing me 8500 with b & paper....but,how wise is it to upgrade from 3090 to 5090.... i will get 3000 for my old HU.... kindly suggest me something in this regard.... also, how bout blaupunkt n kenwood sets below 9000 ????

5050 in grey cost me 6600..its good..i m nt facing a problem..6050 is an better version...i dnt think any1 is having problem wid gey 6050..otherwise it wud hv been brought to notice at carwale..but it sud be around 8000-9000(in grey)..i tell you about da grey stuff..I went to Pioneer Authorised Dealer in Delhi..i enquired about da Kevlar speakers..he said dem to be 7200..i said mujhe to bill ke saath chahiye...den he replied ki sir bill ke saath 12000 ke pad jayenge .Set to yahi milega.bus rate bad jayega..6050 is better dan 5050..5090 in delhi (about 4 months back) cost Rs 10K(including 2yr warranty+ 1 yr insurance.its good HU also.but i think 6050 sud be cheaper dan dis in grey..

Kuntal-are you sure that the dealer is selling a 6050 with B/W?

xx50 models are not marketed here-xx90 models are-they are basically the same HU's but different nomenclature.

So if the 6050 is available with B/W and if the dealer is offering the same without B/W and reduced price-buy the 6050.

Because

-6050 is far better than the 5090
-there is no problem with the slide mechanism.
-there are hardly any fakes of the 6050(but as in medicine-there are always exceptions...)
-B/W will cover only one year of usage-and thats insignificant
-get a demo before buying the same.

Welcome and good luck.

Kuntal please address me a 'binoy' only-thanks

-now the crux of the issue is 'upgrage'

Why upgrade the HU?
What are you looking for-better sound quality or more sound.

IMHO upgrading the speakers will be a much better thing to do-throwing away the sony from the front door should be the first thing to do-put a good co-axial and you should be fine.
