I said, the best they can do for 800 is to give it a minor face-lift the way they have been doing over a decade. As Steeroid pointed out, we do get newer versions of cars being sold abroad but we get them as all new cars with different names, whatever is there in the Indian market, stays. So, even if Cervo comes in, it won't be an 800 replacement, instead it would be a new car which will sell side-by-side of 800.

Maruti has announced discontinuation of 800 and Omni but they later bounced back saying the cars will get BS IV compliant engine. The truth is discontinuing 800 is a clear market share loss of around 3500 cars a month. Being there for ages, the 800's production cost is dirt cheap for Maruti.

Correctly put Ban. THough the cervo looks like a nice and cute hatch back ... if it comes to india then it would be a refreshing addition to MS portfolio because of it's looks.

Maruti 800 changed the way India looked at cars. It introduced a new generation of models in India where Indian customers rushed to buy automobiles for themselves making M800 as the iconic brand for the company. The model has ruled the Indian market since 80’s and now it will retire at least in 13 cities of India.

The existing model of Maruti 800 does not meet the new Euro IV norms or the Bharat Stage IV norms. These norms will come into force in 13 cities of India from April 2010 - the National Capital Region, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Pune, Surat, Kanpur and Agra. All other cities in India will have BS III norms from April. Maruti does not have any plans to upgrade the model but will develop a completely new ‘made-in-India’ car by 2012. Currently Maruti Alto is the flagship model of the company. Other cities of India will come under BS IV norms by 2015-16.

The all new 800!!! source - purchaseauto

Maruti 800 which use to 1st car of people is going to change it design ,style and looks or we can say it is going to have makeover.acc to rumour it is going to have looks similar to the Japanese Suzuki Cervo which is the latest small car recently launched in Japan.

THe new 800 is going to be the sporty and agressive exteriors and the classy bcoz the Cervo is a compact five door mini, that looks to put thThis sleeky cute car offers 54bhp 660cc engine that boasts to offer peppy performance with great fuel economy.

Suzuki believes that they can price the car in the same amount given by Tata, they can do this by deleting some of the stuff available in the car, or by using a cheaper material to make it cost less, but, we doubt that Suzuki will use such cheap material so long as price is considered. There is going to be a lot of competition between these two in the below 800cc category.

outlooks

From the outside the Cervo looks like the Honda Fit. The lines and cuts of the car are neat and classy and the clean blacky covering at the end of the windows are cleverly made so as not to see too many holes. The headlights seem too agressive and getting ready to vrroomm and seems confident, well we can hope it really does. The Small mini SUV looks at the back, with an arching roofline, wedgy stance, slanted headlights and stubby bonnet makes out a new shape of itself and bound to be a great car if its priced is good and if its at 1L, it will be crazy selling. The rear is equally attractive as the front end of the Cervo is. The large lamps add appeal and character to the rear of this Suzuki.

Interiors
The interiors of this car somewhat looks like that of the much popular Swift. The rectangular air vents in the center and the circle open closed ones on the sides dont look even and looks a bit uneven. the colors of the controls lights up the dash. The boot is very small, but for daily shopping and office stuffs its just OK.

Seats at the back can seat only two and the third one can cramp up the place. A lot of storage areas are available to keep stuff in the front and find little at the back. Power Windows are airbags are available in the international markets but we doubt that it will come to India at that cost atleast airbags as an option would be better to make the car safe. In the outside markets this car is equipped with front semi-bucket seats,
4-speed auto gearbox a K6A DOHC engine with VVT, bluetooth capability.Rumours suggest the new car to be launched sometime next year. If the pics on the google search is true, thats an awesome revamp to an 800. and Cars like these will be a success in India if they are priced well with high profile, the sporty and agressive exteriors and the classy and swifty interiors are bound to make the young gens and the ladies to force their cash out, the Suzuki's bet of combining performance with FE, this car will be a hit in Indian roads.
