If someone can please advice me on the following:

1. I have finally deceided to either go in for the Swift Dzire VXi or the Tata Indigo XL Classic Petrol. Which one is better in terms of an overall car?

2. Not being in a hurry at all which is the best time to book/buy the car? Diwali 2008 / January 2009 / April 2009(Post Budget) considering the model / manucturing year change and the slow down in Indian Economy.

As for me this is what I think:

1. Dzire VXi on road comes to about Rs 6L and Indigo XL comes to Rs 6.3L. I prefer the Indigo XL although being a bit extra it gives me much more comfort and and much more value for money and amazing features with a better and stronger engine than VXi and also considering the same cost of maintainance as that of a maruti.

2. Prefer buying in April 2009 because of the slow down in Indian Economy.

Please do advice me whether my thinking is right or wrong?

Indigo XL is a good choice.

Regarding the buying time... during Diwali good discounts & concession in rate of interest on loan are available.

April 2009 is too far to speculate about the economy, market, prices etc.

Firstly, If you want to purchase a car... diwali is the best time..... also, I would like to add.... I cant wait for even 24 hours if I've decided to go for something and if I can afford that thing easily, here at carwale I've seen so many guys with amazing patience...

other option ... well 6.3 lacs..... Aveo Limited edition is there for you, check out on road price and discounts, interiors are too good and its a comfortable car...  Also check out Hyudai Verna petrol.... Indigo XL, though is a good car but not very successful and its not popular enough. Better check out top model of Indigo CS.

Hi,

Its good to buy during this Diwali. I have got a WagonR very recently during the Dusshera offer after consulting with experts at CarWale.

There are lot many offers in the Car and the on road price is very less. Also as Rajiv said its too hard to have patience dreaming about Apr 09.

You have options like

  • Aveo
  • Verna
  • Indigo CS
  • Swift Dzire
  • also the Ford Fiesta
Accent though its dated, but the price got reduced very recently and always a good car

Hey guys,

Thanx a lot for the responses. they are really helpful. Just wanted u guys to know sum more things i.e. I need 3 things mainly in a car:

1. Gud Engine

2. Spacious

3. Cheap/Reasonable maintainence

Dnt wana buy a car which is really good at the start bt when it comes to maintainence it will burn a hole in my pocket.

Before i could sent in my post I had test driven:

1. Hyundai Accent 2. Logan 3. Maruti Swift Dzire 4. Indigo XL 5. Indigo CS(just tried) considereing dese cars are in the same range in accordance with their specs and maintainence.

Out of dese liked the Indigo XL 2. Dzire and 3. Accent but the Accent was not so comfortable in the rear and hence put up those 2 cars.

Also btw didnt consider Chevrolet, ford, honda and toyota due to high maintainence if any as I will be keepin my car for atleast the next 5 years.

Thanx a tonne all.

Please keep writing in. Ur responses are all highly appreciated and will help me in buying a wonderful car.

@ mawil,

u can consider the aveo as it is a good car with better interiors & good ride quaslity too. good discounts are also going on it & diwali is the best time to buy. as u are worried about the maintainance, *********************************

*********************************

*********************************

considering all this aveo limited edition makes a good buy as it has more features & style.

the other option u can look out for is accent executive as itis a tested & proven car & today also looks good. it has good interiors, performance, space & boot.

go & have a look at the aveo limited edition & than take any decision.

This post is edited (****) to delete wrong / incomplete information. Maintenance & Cashless Offers of Chevrolet (any car) may be good for 'peace of mind' etc. but are NOT free - those come at additional costs (may or may be included in the price of the car).

This aspect has been discussed INNUMERABLE times on various threads.

Henceforth, such posts (any thread) will be DELETED entirely and if felt necessary, the member/s concerned may be BANNED too.

Well, in your budget I just suggested Aveo coz though the car is not very popular but its a good car and engine is no doubt very good, also you can opt for cashless ownership offer of GM for peace of mind.

In petrol, the best is Honda City but its over budget for you and Aveo is only other cool option left for you. I checked limited edition, its a good option for you. Two tone beige interiors, leather upholstery and use of chrome is too good also other features are very good. Only negative its from GM and though GM's sales figures are increasing every month but generally people use to say that Maintenance is high (I dont think so!....now every one is reducing parts prices, ofcourse if you want to compete than you have to provide cheap service and good after sales support) and other cons, the car is not very popular but if you will hold this car for next 5-6 years, Resale is not a point to consider.... also in next 5-6 years I hope you will find so many service points of GM, they are doing good here.

I suggest you to take a test drive of Aveo and if you feel that its good for you as far as driving is concern and comfortable for your family at rear, you can buy Aveo. Otherwise you have already shortlisted XL... its always available for you.

@Mawil, Aveo is priced quite competitively.  Besides it has 'Total Maintenance Cost' whereby total maintenance of the car is taken care of by the company for 3 years & 'Cashless Offer' whereby the warranty is extended/covered up to 3 years.

You may opt for these offers/schemes for 'peace of mind', like pointed out by Rajiv, especially if you usage/run is substantially high - else, in my personal opinion, it is not required.  In that case, you won't have to pay for those - if included in the cost, it will be deducted.
