Hi friends!!i am member in carwale forums from about a month or two..n have noticed some points which should be here!

..firstly, here is no PM (private messanger) feature here which is in every other forums!..in this feature members /mods can personally contact each other through forum!!..its really very useful!

second, here is no "active users" which helps to check out the members who are online and who are not!....it shows that which memeber is doing what!...means who viewing which sec/thread of the forum etc etc!...n also shows from how many hours/mins. he/she is online!!..its also very useful!

Third, thing i've noticed here is that in carwale foums there is no poll feature!!....which helps to creat polls!..its relly very intresting and useful too!!!.....its now in every forum but dont know why not in carwale!!

Fourth, is that i've seen many ads on the carwale forum screen!!which doesn't looks good at all!!!..actually it SPOILS THE FORUM!!!

Fifth, i dont know why but in carwale forums here are very little "fonts"!!!....is there lack of space????NO!...so why such small fonts guys??...the need to be bold in black colour !!.it looks good to members and guests!....also its easy too view!!...u dont need to take microscope to view it!!

Sixth, another thing i've noticed is that the MODERATORS AND ADMIN. in carwale are not at all strict!!....you need to be strict to  maintain the quality of the forum!!...i've seen many members here using sms language n breaking rules etc etc...but mods sometimes dont see them ..n if they there should be strict action taken...first warings then action!!only then u will be able to maintain quality of forum!...cm'mon its great forum!...i too love it just li'l care needs to be done here!!thats all!...HOPE MODS/ADMINS WILL CONSIDER THIS!

THANKS,

Vibhor

Dear Vibhor,

Thanks for so many useful suggestions. I have a single answer (not excuse) to most of your questions. Most of the forums that you have visited use third party/open source forum applications. Since there are huge teams developing those software, it's very easy to implement new ideas sooner.  While in CarWale's case, the forum software is developed in house. This is the reason it lacks at many standard utilities that are available in other forums. You might ask me how does it matter to you as a user whether it's an in-house or third party software but it really matters. CarWale.com is a complete car portal, we have a vast list of applications/services/software which need to integrate under one system. If we start working with third party software, we will loose track of information. For example, as of now, Vibhor writing in forums and selling his car on CarWale.com and buying accessories online is same person but if I start using TP applications, all Vibhors will be different persons. In nutshell, CarWale.com is willing to give you better services.

As I told you, this is not an excuse to your questions. We are willing to provide everything that our members/users need. So, the services will come as and when we are able to finish them.

Ads are our bread-and-butter. I will not go into the debate of how others are surviving without showing ads but we have to do it in order to offer you most of our services for free. Please understand.

As far as fonts are concerned, we will work to provide you with themes. This way you will choose your own set of fonts/styles.

And, people do reply here, don't they? ;-)

I appreciate your view & concern. This is what I have to say briefly & impartially, as an "Individual"…

For STRICT implementation of the rules & for warning/penalizing the defaulters, you need to have a full-time professional moderator, who otherwise has no interest/passion in participating in the forums/discussions.

An amateur moderator is basically a member first with prime interest/passion for participating in the forums/threads.  He/she also has a profession of his/her own.  It is difficult for him/her to spare the required time (for the purpose under reference).  And in case he/she does so – even to the extent possible – it would necessarily be at the cost of taking away additional time from his/her profession, family time & also from the forum participation.

Therefore, an amateur moderator can only TRY to co-ordinate & organise to the best of his ability & time.

Nevertheless, all members are aware of the rules & regulations.  It is their moral duty to follow the same meticulously & be their own moderators.  It is expected so, mainly from all those who are regular participators (irrespective of seniority).

I sincerely reiterate… the above is purely as an “Individual” – no offense taken or meant

In fact I personally don't believe in imposing too many rules. We are doing fairly well even without implementing 'strict rules'. If there is an absolute need of a strict rule, we do that. There have been instances that we have banned members. Things like SMS language etc is something to be taken easy.

True.  We have done that on many occasions.

Movements of members so identified are followed very closely, they are warned a couple of times & if things don’t fall in place, they are banned.

Besides, a few types of remarks & usage of languages/words (even expressions) that are unwarranted for are dealt with strongly.

And that’s why our Forum is otherwise quite neat & clean, as can be observed.

THANKS for your reply banwari dear!!

i understand your problems!....but all i want to say was that there should be some li'l features added to make this forum more exciting.....so that other more people come and join this forum!!..so that this forum can be a sucess!...i know your forms's software is inhouse devloped but there is no harm if some eforts can be done to improve it more ..maybe it will take time but no problems!!

and as u said that ads are bread and butter!..okay may be but it will be much better if they can find thier place below forum page!

..another thing was coming in my mind was that its a automotive forum but here is not even a single car pic u can see!..

...anyways thanks banwari and hope you will try for themes as u said!

Vibhor,

Whatever you have suggested would be implemented as soon as possible. For example, PM and active members are something that almost every wants here. Poll, I will get added soon.

Thanks again.
