Hi all,

We have a Wagon R bought in 2006 Diwali at Delhi and have moved to my native hyderabad in early 2007 and been using the vehicle very rarely due to the non availability of NOC. Reason being that Citi bank have stopped the inter city loan transfer which restricted them from giving the NOC, inturn even Delhi RTO will not give the NOC (as far as I heard from bank personnel). So is there any other alternative for me to drive the car legally in Hyderabad until the loan term is completed and the NOC is obtained, I heard Paying road tax can give a relief for certain time period ... any other suggestions will be much apreciated.

Advance Thanks to all replying to this thread !
cheers,
Abhishek

Vehicle can be used in another states without re-registration for a period not extending 1 year, by paying 1-year tax.  Beyond 1 year, vehicle has to be re-registered based on NOC from earlier state/RTO.

RTO will not issue an NOC (re-registration) till an NOC (loan) is issued by the bank.

Banks cannot technically refuse to transfer loan a/cs to other cities/states.

Yes, you can pay the road-tax for temp. use until 1 year.  But sorry, I'm not aware of the amount & calculation for the same.

For life-time tax, in case of re-registration, it's on % terms based on the value of the car.  The % varies from state to state - here in Gujarat it's 6%.

Hope someone else is able to post some info here.

In the meantime, I suggest, if you can enquire with the local RTO (Hyd).

Hi,

Please see below for road tax calculation:

  • Tax rates/rules are as below: (Please verify the latest rates from the below mentioned website or RTO)
    • Tax is calculated over your vehicle’s ex-showroom price at the time of purchase
      (i.e. Base cost + local sales tax. E.g. Rs. 3,00,099 + 36,011).
The road tax is calculated based on the age of your car, i.e. the year in which you bought it. It is a percentage of the market value of your car as mentioned in the invoice of the car.
      • For new vehicles – 9%
      • For vehicles less than 2 yrs old – 8%
      • For vehicles > 2 yrs < 3 yrs – 7%
      • For vehicles > 3 yrs < 4 yrs – 6% and so on
    • Link for calculatign Road tax: http://www.aptransport.org/html/3SCHEDULE.htm

Are you sure that the tax is calculated on base cost + local sales tax? To my understanding, it should be on the base price (ex-factory price) only, i.e. excluding taxes - else, it would mean tax on tax (duplication in a way).

There's no clarity on this in the link provided by you.

Here in Gujarat, at the time of registration of a vehicle, the tax is calculated on ex-factory price, as stated/explained by me.

    Please clarify. Thanks.

    Hi Guys,

Me to having the same problem, have moved from Mumbai to hyderabad but dont intend to stay here more than 2-3 years. But is there any one who has paid anuual tax in Hyderabad RTO?I think these rules are state dependent and AP doesnot have any concept of 1year tax.

Also if they have and I go with the calculation,8% on exshowroom price, that will come close to 30k annual tax, which is close to life time tax(33K) which i paid at Mumbai.

30K annual tax......Thats big money.......Shall I take it as premium that an Indian citizen has to pay to drive hyderabad roads(Why hyderabad man.....every where its the same)?

    Guys any views on that.

Also, I wanted to know if there is some who has used the vehicle paying the annual tax in Hyderabad. How much it came to and how did he go about paying it?

    Rgrds

    Rupesh
