I hope the picture shows the inflated airbags - and when in normal will not hinder the rear view. When the impact is from behind, these seems to help as - the rear passanger head may sometimes not only hit the headrest at center and may tend to slide around giving injury for the neck. It may act as 100% headrest i.e. at complete rear side fill all gaps that headrest cannot.

The air bags will in no way obstruct the rear view. The air bag inflates in milliseconds and then deflates in a second or two. Quite unlikely that the bag will support a sliding head(so it cannot act as 'a complete head restraint').

only good point would be the bags preventing glass fragments from a rear impact(remote still because most western cars have laminated rear glass also).

yess....d glass can b a concern.......... bt u're rite.....even d rear glass cud b laminated just lik d wind screen......

well...d soft seats n headrests in a car maybe soft to sit on......bt not as soft wen a car/any other vehicle cums crashing in........

d Gas filled Airbags mite just make it "safer"....... in developed countries.....safety is more of a concern in a car ,than in developing countries...... ... so paying a HUGE amount even for making d rear passengers a little "safer" would not be a bad idea i guess.
