Binoy, just try surfing the net and you will find many dealers who do the retrofitting for ABS. the ADD-ON that i have mentioned are imported kits. not sure if they are widely available in INDIA or do they have any manufacturers. a friend of mine was to go in for Dzire without ABS and get it fitted later on. he had even spoken to a local mechanic(who deals in imported bikes and cars) here. but eventually he stretched his budget and went in for the city

So the consensus is ABS cannot be added on!! Theoretically so much can be done to any car-even with the swift its possible to turbocharge the petrol engine by importing kits from outside. There is always a practical side to things.
p.s could not find any dealers that retrofitted the ABS kit for the Swift in India-maybe my ' surfing skills' are poor.

this thread was for abs retro fitment and i just mentioned that it is possible. as far as other things are concerned one can have any number of modification to any vehicle for that matter. but the point here is it is possible but may not be feasible in INDIA as of now

An accident is generally the result of a screw loose in the nut behind the steering wheel

Sri,

I find Binoy's point more appropriate. We live in the world where everything is possible today. So, merely saying that this thing is possible doesn't make sense. Moreover if it was a casual discussion, your perception could have been right, but in a scenario where a person is ready to buy a car on the basis of our suggestions, we need to be more careful.

As per my knowledge, after-market retrofitment of ABS is feasibly impossible at the moment.

In most of the cases, braking distance decreases, however, in specific conditions, stopping distance increases (gravels, wet surface etc).

There is a video from Bosch showing ABS demo, in which it is shown that along with anti skidding it reduces the braking distance. In video it shows in dry road, but if its in wet surface also it should reduce the braking distance. As there wont be any skidding compared to non abs vehicle, there shud be less braking distance.

Whats ur view about it?
