Well, that's a valid point Krish. But going with Honda's history, Honda might soon make changes and add a few things (remember the previous Honda City, and then the New  Honda City ZX (not new now). So for Tubeless, probably Honda is listening. But Lacking a Tacho !! Well That's Bizarre if its true !! This one was a complete shocker. And Mind you, Turning radius too, is not in favour of the Honda this time. The reason i am adding this is ,because Turning radius Of-course matters alot in this segment ! Yes the Wheel size is bigger than than in the Ritz. But the tyre size? Didn't Honda have choice ? Undecided I  am sure they did !

But Ritz anyways i think would be the Most value for money in this now very new but "densely" populated segment! Also it is bound to be more popular since it Since d variants really "vary" , i mean look at the price range. But lets not talk about the Ritz here.

About the Jazz, the company officials say, a Bigger Engine could be under the hood in "sometime" from now. But till then , personally speaking , People like me (and Krishna too ) aren't finding the Jazz's Top-end as impressive as we'd expected it to be.

Cheers.

Turning radius is a function of wheel base and length of the car, so a longer turning radius was kinda expected for Jazz - it's 185 mm longer than Ritz (but it is curious that the 185 mm longer length results in 200 mm longer turning radius - probably the wheel base is longer by 200 mm, just guessing..)

The tyre size is probably because Honda is harmonizing inventory for its range of vehicles... Civic has R15, it moved from R14 to R15 in City, and Jazz gets introduced with R15... you get the idea - wheels, covers, tyres, all could be used in common across all the product range.

I think after the launch of Grande Punto, Honda has to re-think on its price stratergies. A 1.4lts engine same as linea's come for the same price of swift!! that too it does'nt get the benefit of taxes as its a 1.4L where as Honda gets the benefit as it has a 1.2L! Why would a common man spend 8L for a hatch-back when he can get a better once for 5-6L. Plus Punto also has the 1.3multijet! I think Fiat will be ruling the Indian markets in a couple ofyears If other car companies dont work-out somethin more amazing!

Some infor on a new JAZZ

Honda recently launched is premium hatchback model Jazz in India. The model received a lukewarm response from the Indian car buyers mainly owing to its hefty price tag. If the overall response is not extremely encouraging, it is not disappointing either. In spite of being a premium car, Jazz has managed to pull crowds to the showroom and the company booked 1000 Jazz in the first week itself. Deliveries of the new Jazz model have started from June 10 onwards.

“We are happy at the response received by Honda Jazz; we are sure that the customers of Honda Jazz will appreciate the product and help us win new customers,” said Honda Jazz, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Vice President, Marketing, Honda Siel Cars India. Jazz will be manufactured at Honda’s Greater Noida plant and sports a localization level of 77% from day one. The Jazz has also been certified to give 16.1 KMPL tested by ARAI.

Current model of Honda Jazz comes with a 1.2 Litre i-VTEC engine generating 90 bhp but Honda is ready to increase the power of the new Jazz already. It intends to launch the 1.5L petrol variant in 2010. Apart from the 1.5L engine, it will also have an optional automatic transmission but that would be at the cost of additional one lakh rupees.

What remains to be seen is that is the Indian customer ready to shell out a price for small car just for its luxury, Honda’s reliability and its brand image.

Honda has managed 1000 bookings for the recently launched Jazz hatchback in the first week of its launch.

Honda Jazz is the most expensive hatchback in the country with a starting price of Rs 6.98 Lakhs for the base variant, going up to Rs. 7.33 Lakhs for the top end sports variant. Jazz will be manufactured at Honda’s Greater Noida plant and sports a localization level of 77% from day one and comes with a 1.2 Litre i-VTEC engine generating 90 bhp. The Jazz has also been certified to give 16.1 KMPL tested by ARAI.

Honda India has a distribution network of 105 dealerships across India which is likely to go upto 112 dealerships by the end of this year to meet the increased volumes.

Jazz is sold in over 130 countries with cumulative sales of more than 2.8 Million units and has won over 40 international records. The second generation Jazz (known as Fit in Japan) was awarded the Japanese car of the year 2007-2008, the only car in the history to have won the award for two successive generations. The car is the best selling model in Japan for the year 2008.

The test drives for the Jazz are open throughout the country.

Have to disagree with the comparison posted on the Jazz vs Ritz. Quite some incorrect inputs. As a new Jazz owner (40 days old), I can confirm the Jazz ,atleast mine and its the base version!!, came with the follows....

a) Tachometer/ RPM meter

b) 15" Tubeless Michellins

c) Rear wiper with washer

It would be good if folks who have a clear perspective and are unbiased put up a comparison.

Hi Pradeep and welcome to Carwale.

Congratulatios for your new Jazz.

I'd request you to go through the entire thread , and since you're one of the very few proud owners of the Jazz at Carwale, i request you to tell us more about your car. Alot of questions on this thread itslef have been asked and answered either by potential buyers or car lovers. You could give the correct answers since you personal experience would be the factor.

For a start , i would like to ask you, how many cars did you consider before going for the Jazz?

Hi Pradeep,

Sorry, I noticed this thread's revival a bit late... Welcome aboard!Smile

I looked up the preliminary features/spec set available on CarWale site before the launch of the vehicle, and there the information was as I posted. The info on the site may have changed on availability of better and more correct information, but I cannot go back and correct my posts, hence I am stuck with the situation as it stands.

Yes, We are curious to follow your chain of thought that led you to this purchase... Could you be so kind as to explain it? Thanks in advance!
