Hi,

I am planning to buy a car (with ex.showroom price of Max. 14 Lakhs). With the current options I am really confused and I would appreciate help from the experts. Here are more details:

- I drive approx. 1000 Km a month (mostly in City)

- I would like to sell this car after 3 years hence, resale value is very important to me

- I heard Maintenance Cost is too high with Skoda & VW as compare to Honda & Toyota.

Please help. If there is another option, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

For your running the Diesel will be an ideal choice but as the maintenence and spares of Skoda and VW are very high , and if you can afford the Petrol , go for the Honda civic V or the toyota Altis base version!

Thanks Sri. This is helpful. However, I am inclined to go for Diesel hence, I was thinking of Laura. Recently I was reading a couple of reviews where a turbo problem was indicated after approx. 2 years of running. Is there any known issue with Laura. Also, from overall Value for Money point of view, is it a good choice? I would also like to know more about the re-sale value (lets say) after 3 years, in your view, which one can will be better (considering I keep the car in excellent condition). I am sorry for so many questions...

Resale is best for the Honda, followed by the Toyota - if you are planning only for 3 years go for the petrol cars as your running will require atleast 5 years to cash back on the extra money spend on the diesel cars!

Thanks for your response. I really appreciate the help. I am thinking to go for the Altis (1.8 Manual Version top end) unless you guys want to suggest something else to me. Once again thanks. Its been a big help.

hi! jaideep welcome to carwale

you have made a very good  choice    altis  is in everyway a very good car to go for   and it doenst have the ground clearance issue which  is there with civic

the only thing  that  i   did  feel  during my   testdrive that i had today  was  low visibility while reversing but anyway that might have something to do with the  dark shade of windows and also the rain   outside  at sametime    anyway

at the end of my testdrive i am just flattered by the car  everything  was just awesome

Thanks Ashwin. Your inputs are very helpful. You just answered my big question...ATLIS or CIVIC. On Indian roads, ground clearence is a big thing. We can keep blaming the govt authorities for infrastructure issues, but I need my car to handle the current road conditions. Thanks again for everyone !

hi,

Carwale.com is preety good, it gives me comparrision for any no. of car.

im bit confused btween

Honda Civic,Altis and Jetta

Honda Civic has good add an feature and heppy look compare to Altis...but Altis long term durablity high.

in test drive with Altis- found the leg room for back seats are good enough but thy have compromised on the Thigh level support which was in Coralla..may be one would be pinched in a long drive.

re to Altis:quiet surprised ths guys havent upgraded in technology...still its CD changer...and no Traffic softwares..and you cant even modify as its been desidn to it..and it gives 8-10 KM in city..no fuel eff.

so whts the best bye wuld be?

thank you,

Ramesh
