On DNA newspaper i saw an adverstisement from Fazulbhoys where in they were offering a 2002 Santro LS for Rs 1.49 Lacs. I found the price attractive considering that it is a dealers car. I called them up on their number 022-24318888. The gentleman on the other side sounded polite but quickly handed over the phone to a person named Rodrigues.
He gave me the details of the car as follows. Santro LS, Metallic grey, 42000 kms, Single owner, Comprehensive Insurance, Thane Registration @ Rs 1.49 Lacs. Hearing the details i was excited since it was within my budget and i asked him how we should go about the formalities. Mr Rodrigues said that all further details will be explained only at the Dealers Office.
The real story started to unfold when i reached his office. I was greeted warmly but when i asked for the Santro, i was told that it is a customers car so it will be shown only on apointment as they no longer keep cars on display outside their showroom.
Then Mr Rodrigues gave me the following method of purchase of the car from his showroom.
Mr Rodrigues said that i will compulsorily have to buy the car on Loan. I said that i will pay him by DD. But Rodrigues told me that the price of Rs 1.49 lacs was valid only on purchase through loan which they will arrange for 3 years.
If i wanted to buy the car on outright basis,
then i will have to pay Rs 1.79 Lacs (30K extra)
plus transfer charges of RTO (approx Rs 1500)
plus Octroi of 4% on current car valuation (approx Rs 6000)
plus Fazulbhoys commission @ 2.5% of car cost i.e Rs 3725
plus other processing charges of Rs.1000.
The total of all this works out to a whopping Rs 1.91 Lacs for a 2002 model Used Santro which was advertised for Rs 1.49 Lacs.
I was shocked hearing all this so i asked him how the Loan scheme works. Rodrigues said they give 100% loan on the vehicle price of Rs 1.49 Lacs. The EMI for 3 years works out to be a flat Rs.4090 per lac. Hearing this i lost my mathematical calculation ability. Imagine the EMI for 1.49 Lacs. It works out to be Rs 6135 per month for 3 years. The total car cost comes to Rs 2,20,860 plus other charges. If i agree to buy the car on loan then i get a discount as i dont have to pay their commission of Rs 3725.
In short a car that is advertised at a price of Rs 1.49 lacs turns out to be costing Rs 1.91 Lacs for outright purchase and Rs 2.20 Lacs on 100% Loan. Friends, now you guys decide how you will rate FAZULBHOYS. If you have any doubts on this story, check their adv every thursday on DNA & call them on 24318888.

thank u  anup for sharing ur experience, even i know & even i have visited fazulbhoys, it is not a good dealer & he seems that we the customers are fool & behaviour is also not appropriate. & in this case it seems that he is a cheater.

it is better to find the car from somewhere else or from direct owner

if u want u can checkout friday's zigwheels, it is a supplement od times of india there are many cars listed in it of private owners & dealers also.

What is there to be Beware of Fazulbhoys ??? in Fact I say BEWARE OF ANUP DESAI !!! whose job i think is only to misguide the public in general about this Genuine and Oldest Car Dealer of Mumbai City.... Maybe Anup is not aware of how the car Business Works ! - Car Dealers , when they sell cars with Auto Fiannce are entitled to a 6 % Payout ( Commission ) from the Loan Company for selling their Auto Loan on the Used Car. Thus When Fazulbhoys intend to sell the car with a Loan, they are in Fact bieng GENUINE enough to Pass Back this 6 % Payout to the Purchaser by reducing the cost of the car to that extent .... but naturally if the purchaser does not wish to avail of a Loan, then naturally there is no 6 % Commission and so the price of the car in fact is raised. What Fazulbhoys are doing is that they are Advertising the price of theier Used Cars PROVIDED the customer takes a Loan, in case the Customer does not wish to take a Loan, then naturally the price is increased... this a NORMAL practice followed by car dealers the WORLD OVER..... in Fact Fazulbhoys are Genuine enough to make things transperant and Clear..... Other Car Dealers that I have approached to buy a car not only want to pocket the normal 2 % brokerage on the sale of the said car but also the 6 % commission that they get from the finance company...... Fazulbhoys infact have found a Maverick way to Sell their cars at lower rates but naturally only to those customers who want to avail of Loans..... Looks like Anup Desai wanted to Have the Cake and Eat it too...... He maybe wanted to get the Car at the Lowered Loan rate BUT not take a Loan and when Fazulbhoys Did not oblige.... he has started badmouthing them...... I say BEWARE OF ANUP DESAI..... AS HE IS MISGUIDING THE PUBLIC AT LARGE.......   Fazulbhoys are a Genuine and Reputed Oldest Car Dealer of Mumbai City..... I, my family and many many freinds have bought many cars from them over the years..... and  have found them to be Honest, ethical and truthful in their dealings...... I was very pained to read this BIASED and ONE sided atricle about Fazulbhoys and thus immediately rushed to write this Article.... Please DONT GET MISGUIDED BY THIS ANUP DESAI AS EITHER HE IS A FRONT OF SOME OTHER CAR DEALER WHO IS JUST JEASLOUS OF FAZULBHOYS OR IS JUST ONE OF THOSE WHO HAS NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN TO JUST KEEP LOOKING FOR FAULTS IN OTHERS....... PUBLIC AT LARGE... BEWARE OF ANUP DESAI !!!!

I don't know why Harif has got his pants in a knot just because of some remark on some used car dealer...

Either he IS from Fazulbhoy's - in that case he has not clearly mentioned that in his post - that is unethical.

If he is not connected to Fazulbhoy's, I do not understand him registering for the sole purpose to log this rebuttal which borders on raving against Anup Desai.

Harif, substantiate yourself on charges against Anup please.

MODs: if there is no substantiation, I would request you to delete Harif's account as it it will be proved that it has been created for the sole purpose of slander and false charges.

True. That's why I had requested (post 4) Deepam to elaborate on his experience.

Thank you Anup ji for sharing your experience at Fazulbhoy Car Dealers. Even i had a sad experience with them some time ago. I dont understand why this person Sshetty01 is so worried for the reputation of Fazulbhoys. I am sure his account is a fake account and he is related to Fazulbhoys very closely. Moderators of this forum should delete posts of fake people like Sshetty01

Harif's argument doesn't even make any sense.  He claims a 6% kickback from the loan company, but the difference between 1.79 and 1.49 is 20%.  How is +20% making up for the loss of a 6% kickback?  I agree that he is probably just a shill for this used car dealer.

@Raina Luthra, any point in reviving 2 yrs old without posting any details? If you have anything to share then please share it. Just to comment on 2-3 years old thread does not make any sense. And even I agree that the 3rd post seems to be fake but do we have enough evidence to do it, that too after 3 years. So better leave the thread alone unless something strong to be shared.

Thank you.
