Hello forum, I have a 2002 Honda City with manual transmission. Recently I had a left knee injury which has caused an ACL tear. Due to this it is very difficult for me to use the manual transmission. I was wondering if I can get an automatic transmission fit in this car? Is it possible? If so, what expenses might I be looking at? I also searched around for the auto-clutch product, mostly the posts I saw here from sellers of thr product. I talked to a person about it and he was not satisfied with the product stating that it failed to often in his palio, wasnt too refined and sometimes when it failed the car became unoperational. That is he cant switch back to using the clutch. Any other users have any experience with it? Lastly if anyone knows a reliable mechanic for servicing hondas in or near HSR layout/Koramangala Bangalore kindly let me know.

Its possible to install the automatic transmission to the City..cost will be 60k-80k from the HASS. Its not worth while and getting a automatic new is the best option.

An ACL injury requires rest max for 6-8 weeks unless it is a complete tear, my advice would be to rest for 3 months use a driver and get back on the manual car and save all the money and head/heart ache.

Neeraj, if you wnat to shift to automatic. The new city uses CVT, which is better than the automatic transmission and more efficient as well. But why go for AT, Binoy's advice is better. ;)

I tried this and I had understeer, I tried that and I had oversteer, at the end of the corner I just ran out of talent!

had been away from the forums for a while.

@Binoy  thanks for the advice. actually the MRI showed its a torn meniscus rather than ACL. The problem with manual is that whatever I gain in physiotherapy, I lose in pushing the clutch since that clutching action most irritates the meniscus.

Since I value my body over anything else, I am thinking of selling it and getting an i10 AT now. The 60-80k option for AT in my honda from HASS is a bit too steep. and the other option of autoclutch suffers from poor after sales (from what I read on the forums here and elsewhere), not to mention if i move out of bangalore to a smaller city I wont find service centers there.

So i10 AT is what I am thinking of .. or a used AT santro to save money in these recession times
