7-8 is a problem even in dense traffic.
Get the car to the service center-check the ECU for error codes using the hyundai scanner.
Check tyre pressures/ brakes for binding(also hand brake).
As service is over the other routines(filters) will be normal.

If nothing works an ECU reset might help, do update and shall guide you how to do that.(one can do it at home itself)

Boss, petrol kahi aur bharwa ek baar.

It may be the case that the quantity of petrol is not right. Maybe, its very bleak chance - but whats wrong in doing.

In Mumbai, there is difference of 5 to 7 % sometimes when petrol is filled from best to worst dealer.

So try karke dekho, ya and 1 more thing :

TOP UP YOUR TANK TO FULL LEVEL, MARK THE ODOMETER. SAY 1000 KMS.

DRIVE TILL YOU EXHAUST 80% OF PETROL AND AGAIN TANK UP (FULL) IN THE SAME PETROL PUMP. SAY YOU FILL 50 LITRES. SEE THE ODOMETER. SAY 1500 KMS.

SO IN 50 LITRES, YOU HAVE DRIVEN 500 KMS(1500-1000). THE AVERAGE IS 10KMPL.

TRY AND THEN REPLY. MAYBE YOU WILL NOT BE MAKING THE TANK UP - WORKING YOUR AVERAGE ON PROBALILITY.

SEE THAT AND REPLY.

Hi,

New cars generally won't have much to do with the ECU - it doesn't mean that a new ECU is perfect, but still, ECU needs to be checked only after all the other angles to the problem are addressed to. I would like to draw a proper diagonosis before comming up with something - I want to ask a few questions here -

1.   How is the clutch performing - Does the engine stop while you are releasing the clutch - even gradually??

2. How is the pick-up of the car - does it feel slightly sluggish and generally in the lower gears is the car running smoothly or there is a slight roughness to it while accelerating?

Clutch plates in a new car are fresh and have quite a bite in them - over the first two to three months, they wear out slightly and come to their actual performance range - they need to adjusted for proper play and clutch performance - typically - a bit of tightening is needed after the first 3 months on any new car. If it is a problem with the Clutch, it will be clearly shown in jerky pick-ups in lower gears, decreased pick-up and engine halting while releasing the clutch without any trottle feed.

3. How is the free play on the accelerator - generally there has to be a slight freeplay on the trottle - if the trottle is too tight, it means that the engine is idling at a higher RPM - which might cause the low mileage. Also, even if there is a play in the trottle, at times, especially during the rainy days, a bit of sludge and dirt can manage it's way to the trottle feed and cause the engine to idle at a higher speed - Get it properly inspected.

4.  Driving habits - A major cause of concern is that a lot of drivers in India have this habit of placing their foot on the clutch pedal while driving - In a new car, the clutch play is very less and even placing the foot on the pedal causes the plates to move ever so slightly - this causes less transmission of power even though the engine is generating the proper power.

Regards,

K Prasad

Filling petrol at normal speed / slow speed would have an effect of maybe 0.5% i.e, 5 ml for every liter - it is not a huge factor at all. If everything is fine with the clutch and trottle feed, the next suspect can be the sparkplugs - are they clean and have been set to the proper gap !! This is a very vital point - atleast 50% of the cases of less mileage are because of this - sparkplug need to be cleaned on a monthly basis and gap checked atleast once in a quarter - frankly enough - very few do it.
