Hi Vista outbeats all competition in its class. The Aura quadrajet is wonderful. The higher torque at lesser rpm would mean better city driving. The fuel economy of 18-17 kmpl of diesel is a blessing. The defogger becomes a must in rainy season which Swift has not thought of and even in Dezire they do not provide till the VXI and VDI model. If your front wipers are on and you happen to reverse Vista aura, the rear wiper automatically switches on - a wonderful thought and leg space at the rear is enough for a 6 foot plus person. Wish Tatas had given ABS and airbags immidiately instead of planning to give it after 6 months in their export model. Hey Indians are spending money and that is why world majors are queing for India.

Actually, version/s with ABS & Airbags will be available here in India too.  It will be launched in 6-month time concurrently with the export models.

In fact, Tata have done that in the past in the case of Turbo DLX model.

I had booked Quadrajet Aura (Noble Blue) at Prerana Motors, Bangalore, on 14th September and was told that the delivery will be in 6 weeks. However, later enquiries with Concorde, Bangalore, revealed that nowhere is the waiting period more than 4 Weeks.

As on date the position is that Prerana has assured me that the production of my car will commence tomorrow, i.e. 12th November and I can expect it within 20th November positively. Thus, the waiting time is 10 weeks for Prerana Motors. If you book at Prerana today, you can expect the vehicle by 17th January 2009, while if you book it at Concorde, you can expect it by 09th December 2008. This is if you go by the words of these two vendors.

The difference in the waiting period between these two vendors could be because Concorde is a 100% subsidiary of TATA Motors and might be getting preferential treatment.

Hi....

Vista's diesel QJD will be best.

But can any one tell me how will be the performence of its petrol engine?

For such a heavy vehicle, petrol engine looks underpowered. How will it affect its performence in city driving?

I think mileage will not be more than 11km?

*Then, is it really worth purchasing petrol version(esp. when compared to its petrol rivlas)?(If someone dont wanna go for dieselfor personal preferences.)

         ------Any views?

Underpowered compared to diesel version.  It otherwise has almost same power, torque & engine CC that Xeta has - but weighs 80 kgs more than Xeta.  But has Fiat engine that is much better than Xeta's.  I have not test-driven it but I'm given to understand that it is quite good & much better than Xeta - and is quite likely to be preferred ahead of a few other petrol cars in its segment.

I don't drive more than 800 kms in a month and hence can not go for a Diesel engine. Am actively considering getting a Safire Aura. as the only other cars I like in this class are Getz Prime 1.3 (For me space and riding comfort is a Big factor). Getz is almost a 80K more. Please suggest if petrol Safire would be a good buy (factors important: Riding comfort, Space, performance, looks and last interiors) Or else what would be a good alternate??

Pankaj, that discussion is for Swift/Vista and thanks, your guidance was really helpful. My query over here is about Vista/Getz and if Petrol Vista has any decent alternative apart from Swift/Getz. Sorry if i am posting queries about Vista in different forums, but i want to doubly sure before i buy it. Hope you can guide me over here also

I understand but your above statement in particular sounds as if you have ruled out Getz (80K more) & are concentrating on Vista.

However, here's a LINK to Getz Prime & Vista Aura - Vista is a little better on features while Getz is more powerful & costs 80K more.

If you are considering Getz & wish to compare/discuss further, I suggest you to start a new thread listing out your preferences & concerns afresh.

For Vista, though we can continue here, it would be better in the another thread as we have already discussed quite a few things.

I trust you understand.
