Me too had the same confusion to chocse a car from Civic and Altis.

I have spent more than 4 hours in a daily basis for 2 months and finally came to a conclusion. Civic is a very sporty looking car and its comfort is mainly designed mainly for the driver. I am not saying it is not comfortable for the other passengers. It is a sporty car...But if you think about the trend Altis is simply superb. It has got that muscular look which is a trend on the roads now a days. The comfort level is too high in Altis. I was planning to buy a Civic from past 2 years and when I explored the features and the comfort level in Altis, I simply booked it. I will be getting it on the first week of Jan'09. I do still think about Civic and find reasons to throw it out of my mind....

And mailny, Civic may come up with a newr version in the near future(may be; since its quiet long time in the market with out change in the model) and I will be then disappointed

Altis is fresh and will stay long with its muscles.....

You please - Testdrive both the cars, sit as a passenger in front as well as in the back with 4 passengers drive in all the modes(fast, slow, turns, steep, hike,....and please let me know the result.

I was also deliberating from last 2 months between Honda Civic & Corolla Altis. I was following this and other related threads in this forum. I have finally decided & booked the Corolla Altis AT. I would like to thank everyone in the forum for your valuable inputs & advise.

I am thinking of buying light blue metallic color. Any opinion about my decision and the color I have selected.

Regards

Congrats and happy to hear that you are happy!

Color is a subject of personal choice and you should get the color that you would like to turn up in!

Having said that the light blue color for the Altis is quite eye catching and not so common so would stand out.

Please so write in with your buying and initial impression of the car along with photos-thanks.

Karan,

Thanks a lot. I will post some pics etc in due course.

I prefered Altis AT over Civic ATdue tp following reasons:

1. Ground clearence is more on the Altis. Roads in Bangalore are full of potholes and unnecessary speed breakers. When I TD the Civic with 5 people, it was scrapping the bottom frequently on speed breakers. I will be using this car for family mostly driving with 4 people.

2. As I will be mostly using the car in the city the FE of Altis is better, (as per reports/ other members experience)

3. Interior space apprears more and legroom / comfort in the back seat was better. Even getting in/out of the car is easier in Altis. (My opinion, maybe I am wrong)

4. All the extra features in the Altis.

In the end I guess the head ruled over the heart. I hope that  I have made the right decision.

BTW how to post pictures on the board??? Any help much appreciated.

hi Mr.Vittal...

abt Point1 ...yes its true ...Corolla Altis...(for that matter the old Corolla too) has got a gr8 ground clearance.....its a nice car ..low on maintainence..very very INDIAN.... meaning.... easy to maintain, less damage due to "Indian" conditions...etc etc....

Point2----Well...i m not sure of this,bt i mite b wrong in case of thwe ALtis... ....bt d avg difference again wud b bare-minimum...so its kool !

Point3---Yes its slightly higher.....bt again as u pointed out .personal opinion....

abt point4 ---yes its ALways good to follow the HEAD,honestly......cuz wen the matter is of lakhs... (a lot of money ofcourse )... den one HAS to follow the mind !...am i sounding Money-minded ...hehe... kidding.

So no worries Mr.Vittal...stay rest assured.....ur decision is a correct one !....also the Civic wil get a minor facelift soon.....so takin the Civic at this point of time is also not the best of ideas.......

so u've made the RIGHT choice !

cheers
