It may also affect suspensions.

Upsizing of wheels affect ride-quality & suspensions in turn.  It is always prudent to stick to company recommended size.

If i am not wrong then generally speaking when we shift from R13 to R14 tyre, the height of the centre of tyre goes up. This presses the suspension and that means that the suspension gets to travel a little lesser than compared to when the tyre is R13. So when we go over bumpy roads then ride would be slightly harsher.

The ride comfort would also depend on the side profile. Generally 165/65-R13 & 175/65-R14 is the combination for Indica DLS & Indigo. 175/65-R14 would have higher side profile as compared to 165/65-R13. This means the tyre could absorb shocks better. However this also means shock absorbers travel lesser. So if we drive roughly then the shock absorbers have a greater chance to wear out sooner.

If we are careful while driving and not rash in using the tyres then we have longevity of suspensions and the travel would be pleasant too as the tyres last longer with better response. That's why Pankaj's absolutely right in saying that what the company provides are generally the best suited tyres. And we should venture into upsizing / downsizing tyres when we really undertsand the mechanics well or we have an expert to give us the correct suggestion.

Changing tyres out of company specs will render the warranty(and not insurance) void. Keeping the aspect ratio lower while upgrading to larger diameter tyres will more or less keep the ground clearance the same. There are ready reckoner formulas to calculate this.
I would also beg to differ on the premise that car companies provide the best tyres, this is on the contrary in my personal experience of owning 4 different cars from three different manufactures in the past.

Yes very true. By the way, in Indica/Xeta, as I understand, upgrading the wheel size doesn't affect the ride-quaity & suspensions, as such.  This is mainly because its design & structure suits both sizes - in fact, as we all know, some versions come in 13 while some in 14 (without other changes).

yes, so upgrading to bigger size does not affect suspension infact may give some better ride quality.

I can feel the change in height of the Xeta, Actually fellow member Sri Vsh suggested me this 175/65 R14 upgradation, You guys can check the chrome alloys too in my photo section. One more difference, in words of my bro Ravi.... well jab nayi li thi to koi nahi dekhta tha ..abhi log dekhne lage hain alloys ki wajah say

Well, let me clarify.... my previous post (26) is in response to Bhusan's post (24).  I somehow, missed Binoy's post (25).

Besides, I have said earlier (post 23) that upsizing the "WHEELS" (not tyres) affect ride-quality & suspensions.
