Hi friends,

My question pertains to buying a used car.

My budget is roughly 3.5 lakhs and i want a mid segment car
I will be running about 70 kms per day including some trips on the highway
I also intend to keep the car for atleast 4 to 5 years

Looking into my budget I have short listed Mitsubishi lancer , honda city (old model)
The condition of the cars is good and i have got them checked by a local mechanic as well
The lancer seems to be a good buy but i have a few questions

1. Is it a good idea to buy a lancer/city(old) cause some people tell me that getting parts of those cars would be difficult later on as the car ages also maintenance cost will be very high. Is it true?

2. What year model is ideal for me to buy in the budget i have

3. Can a CNG kit be installed in these cars without any problems?

4. Do you think i should look at some other used car in this segment? If yes then it would be great if you could suggest me the same

I Feel the Accent CRDi would be a better buy for you and also seeing that you drive around 70 kms a day diesle wud be a better choice , Btw the Lancer and city the City is a safe choice , not sure abt the parts of Old City!

You could also Look for the 05 Esteem Diesel , Petra Diesel 05 or 06 , Optra 03 or 04 ( petrol ) or the honda city 03 or 04, or the Accent Petrol 04 or 05!

Cheers,
Sri

Thanks Sri for promt and apt advise

I had seriously thought of Accent CRDi as option but ruled it off cause it didnt appeal me much  when put against the likes of Lancer

Also i am strongly looking for a vehicle that put a CNG kit as i expect diesel prices to rise exponentailly with petrol in the near future.

I am ready to increase my budget by 1 to 1.5 lakhs or so by taking a small loan of the amount. Do you think that looking at Ford Fiesta petrol with a CNG kit will do me good as i am thinking of a long term, if yes then kindly suggest what year model i should be looking for.

Also i am open to any of the newer used mid sized car u might suggest.

Thanks soo much for your help, it will greatly help me to take a stand on my car purchase decision

The Used FOrd Fiesta would have been a Good option but after seeing to it that you are going ot keep the car for a long term , i feel you shud go for the Used Honda city ew shape say the 05 model or the USed Honda city ZX 05 mmodel EXi! and fit a CNG to it , Hondas are really very reliable and would be in good touch for long term!

Cheers,
Sri
