Oh mine is a fairly simple setup.

Source/Head Unit:  Alpine 9887 + Universal Steering-mounted Remote

Speakers:  RF Punch 6.5" Comps x 4

Amp (Speakers): JBL GTO 75.4

Sub:  RF P3L-S10 Shallow Sub (really slim, this one!)

Amp (Subs):  Alpine Monobloc

Cabling + Power:  I dont know the brand (was done when I was out of the country) but it was done at Emperor and the guy is a guru.  The cables cost about 15k.

PS:  Its an SQ setup for Rock, not a boom-boom loose bass setup.  The music is crisp and clear with enough punch for classic rock.

Here are some pics, its a pretty simple & straightforward (i.e., not flashy!) install:

HU + Front Comps

HU + Comps

SUB + 2 AMPS

THE TWO AMPS, ONE BEHIND THE OTHER

DVD Players

LOADSPACE AFTER INSTALL

Nice setup. Have'nt heard rf comps. Have heard a lot of RF amps though. I've seen the slim sub's. A friend runs the JL Audio slim sub. Because of the sub's design, the box is much smaller than a normal one. Its great for installs where space is an issue.

Am totally sq-centric too. I run a largely polk setup.

1. HU Pioneer P-80rs. My entrie setup is controlled from here. I'm running my setup in active mode with the components xover bypassed. I really like this hu. The amt you can fine tune the sound to set the stage and imaging with this hu is great.

2. Front comps : Polk Momo 6.5" comps.

3. Rears : Polk MM691 installed but disconnected. I don't use any rears. It just pulls my stage back and causes cancellation issues.

4. 4ch Amp : Polk pa500.1. All 4 channels of the amp are driving the comps. 2 chs to the tweets and 2 to the mids. This gives great tuning flexibility.

5. Sub Setup: Polk MM2124 12" sub in a sealed encl. Run off a Polk mono block.

All stinger RCA's and Blue Jeans power cables and kicker speaker cables. Front doors and boot deadened with dynamat extreme. I too spent over 25k for the wires / cables and dynamat.

You can look at doing two things with your setup to take your sound quality up a couple of levels. Get the alpine processor for the 9887 and look at going active. By going active you take your sound quality up by a couple of levels. The sound is so much clearer.

Good installers are a rare breed in india. I had to go thru a few nightmares before I found someone good. That and I learnt the whats and hows as I went along. Wink

The funny thing is that when I'm in the car, its only about the sound. The car itself, is secondry. I guess thats why my car is always a bit of a mess with cd-s all over the place. Embarassed

Just one more suggestion based on the pics. Try placing your tweeter for the front comps at ear level on your a pillars. It will raise the stage height.

Hang on, in the thrid pic your two amps are mounted one on top of the other. Your mono amp is sandwiched between the board and the 4ch amp. Amps generate heat. This heat is dissipated by the amp either thru a heatsink or a fan. But for the heat to dissipate there must be free space around the amp. This is a MUST. The heat generated from your mono amp has no place to escape and it will further heat your 4ch amp that is on top. I would strongly recommend that you change this install. Overheating will cause the amp to clip and continnued clipping will damage the amp.

1.  The setup is active.

2.  We did try to mount the tweeters higher up, but the previous 'installer' had messed with the tweeter mounts on the inside of the ORVM and has made it totally unusable - the covers of the original Blau tweeters that came as OE are just stuck on to the opening and there's no tweeter inside.  As a result the front stage is a bit low down.

3.  We did consider the 'amp on top of amp' heat issue, its not an issue because there is space below the second (inner) amp between the plastic panel (now removed) and the steel body.  The installer has tested it out for a week (to "break-in" the speakers and amp) before he delivered the car and assures us there will be no heat issues.

The reason for the packed install and the slim sub is that I need all the bootspace I can get.  We practically live inside the truck when we're home and travel very long distances - therefore bootspace is precious as it carries all sorts of stuff.

Before you ask, the SUB has also been covered with a grille to prevent damage from loose luggage.

As a result the front stage is a bit low down.

You can correct that with time alignment using the imprint processor.

Ya I was going to ask that. Smile

MODS/ADMIN TEAM:  Most of the buttons dont seem to be working for me - I cant click on 'Quote', for instance.

Just curious on the xover points and slopes ure running........

I have NO idea.  I'm an ICE-idiot, I know nothing (okay, maybe not SO bad) about the technical details - my audiophile friends suggest a selection of stuff for me, the installer gives a second opinion and I buy.  After the install, I listen.

My only inputs into the setup are my ears - and thanks to Zuheimi I havent had too much reason to complain.  The guys know what I listen to and I know what I want to hear.

There are enough complications in life without having to worry about crossover points and stuff - Zuh does the setup and locks it.
