i,

I also wanted to shift my Alto LXI from hyderabad to Bangalore. It is Sep 2007 model. Can anybody suggest the road tax amonut and the procedure to drive it in Bangalore without any problem.

Thanks

Shailesh

Hi

Road Tax in Bangalore id 13% of your purchase value ( Invoice value  ie life time tax no yearly payments )  . Treating veihicle age is 15 years  tax amt also for 15 years . You can minus the 3 years since your vehicle is 2007 model .

Thanks Pankaj

Euro restriction do apply when doing reregistration in different state. one of my friend moving from delhi to ahmedabad could not register his car as it was not Euro 3.

I wanted to know the rules in bangalore if any one knows

At present vehicles   all vehicles from ero-1 can be registered in bangalore till today no restrictions .  It applys only for new vehicles here

Hi Guys,

Motor vehicle Act applies both to two wheeler and four wheelers.

I got a bike but this subject is so interesting that i am sharing my bike experience in carwale.com

Well, Everybody suggested to take NOC first and then go to ur state where u want to take ur vehicle and get re-register.

Some suggested to take NOC, enjoy for one year and then re-register.

Guys , I may be wrong but, I travelled to Indore taking my Delhi Bike, only thing they want is one yellow card where ur local address of Indore is present (which was my hostel at that time).

Then i drove my bike to Ahmedabad. for 1 year nobody stopped me.

Then i move to kolkata- Strict place , I used to drive in the most gentleman manner, behind the trucks, buses so that traffic men can't spot me.

Now i am in Chennai- I had been to RTO Delhi to fulfill their reqirements so that i can drive my bike freely in Chennai, i prepared all my papers, got fresh insurance, pollution certificate, But what i came to know was shocking.

These buggers told me If u will take NOC from Delhi, then ur bike records ie. registration number will be wiped out from Delhi records.

This mean i cant think of taking my bike back to delhi, coz chennai is not my ultimate destination, i need to move back to Delhi for life time.

So if i'll take NOC from Delhi, Re register in Chennai (RTO will give me TN number which i dont like, Common,,,, Delhi number has its own Jalwa)

If within 1 year or suppose 2 years, iwill go back to Delhi, then again i have to apply for NOC from Chennai RTO, re register again in Delhi and Pay tax again on my same bike. If at that time some rule came into force and they will deny my application.

AM I STUPID.

I talked to high official in Delhi RTO, they said Supreme Court has denied the application for cases like this. Legally U cant drive another state number vehicle in ur current location. If only its a commercial vehicle , then u can have national permit, which is not our piece of cake.

So the moral of the story is If u have already applied for NOC, then anyways ur name will be thrown out from the system, so don't wait for one year, immediately apply for re registration.

And other way round is If u know u will be coming to ur previous location , then dont go for NOC, Drive safely, No body stops u, Alway keep ur original RC, Pollution, Insurance with u. They will come to know that u r respecting the system. Thy will ask for 200/ 300 rs. Much cheaper than paying Road Tax.

So in the end , only two options are there- Apply for NOC or NOT.

Guys , Plz dont mind if i hurt anybody's feeling.

Sameer

Yes, there are many transferable people who 'manage' without NOC/re-registration & taxes.  Seeking NOC will obviously render your vehicle as un-registered & transferred to another state – in that case, you need to re-register (in the new state) within the validity period of NOC (normally 3 months).

guys ... leave this discussion... nobody ask untill you drive rashly .....drive properly carry your corporate identity card tell them you are on visit for 4 months from company .....and no body ask you any thing... else more if some one ask give 100 or 200 rs.....

Instead of paying around 15000 for re- registering car ... pay 200 Rs per months and if you calculate total value you will end up paying very much less then 15000 in 3 or 4 years of your stay ...

i prefer govt should make it one country ..

Yes, many people 'manage' - especially those who are in transferable job (moving every 3-5 years).

Uday, in order to seek NOC, you will have to submit an NOC from local Police Deptt / LCB, RC Book, Insurance Policy, PUC, evidence of residential address at the place of relocation etc.

The entire procedure takes around 30 days (would vary/depend upon the size of the city/RTO).  The RTO charges are just nominal + agent fee (I'm not aware of the amount).

Road tax is entirely a state subject which means it is upto the various state governments to decide on the taxes in their own state 7 so you find different taxes in different states.

Note for Moderators : Different people with the same display name could cause a lot of confusion like in my case.Something must to be done to ensure the uniqueness.

Avoid quoting the directly preceding posts-MODS

Your request is also under consideration and the solution is already in the pipeline.

DEar rishi (who is to move from Gugaon to Bangalore0,

I was in delhi. Moved with my car and with Noc. did not attempt for karnataka number plate as thought i will have to move back to delhi. circumstances has made me stay here.

result: if i have to register here i will have to pay 12% life time tax. So it is double life time taxation for a car that will not live 10 years.

Advice: Pl try and sell the car in the state of registration collect market price and buy yoyurself a car depending on your proposed stay in Bangalore.

Good luck.

If some one can tell me if RTO delhi will return the life time tax paid there since he has issued the NOC, (If I produce life time tax payment details in Karnataka) Can some one advice with surety. I mean one should be pretty sure.

Can't say with surety but to my understanding provision for refund of life-time tax on pro-rata basis exists in most of the states.  It's, however, a cumbersome job.  Check through some good/reliable agent or RTO Official.
