Dear Gaurav,

Good idea. All said and done you will be tense. After all you have other more important things in life to do. If you want a tension free life try and dispose of the car , get a good price. Buy a new or old vehicle depending your duration of stay in Bangalore.

Selling-off a new car may not be prudent, as depreciation thereon is max. in the 1st & 2nd years.

Even without getting a pollution check every 1/2 months, one can say he has shifted only recently or is on a short visit etc.  However, RTO officials are very shrewd & smart - they may not take the story true in all cases.

You need to fill-up a few requisite forms, obtain/submit a report of LCB (Local Crime Branch) Pune & submit residential evidence of re-location (Ahmedabad).  Based on these, Pune Branch will issue an NOC favouring Ahmedabad RTO.  It may take around 10/15 days.

Based on the NOC so issued, you can re-register your vehicle in Ahmedabad by paying life-time taxes afresh, as applicable for old vehicles (depreciate value).  The entire procedure would take 30/45 days - till allottement of registration.

Cost factor, I'm not aware of.  Hope someone else is able to post some info here.  In the meantime, you may enquire locally.

NOC & procedure is mentioned earlier - same for all places.  Cost you will have to enquire locally, as stated before.

For 1 year, no re-registration is required - only 1-year tax, as applicable, have to be paid.  Re-registration is required for stay of more than a year along with paying of lif-time tax.

I'm not sure but understand that the Euro restriction should not apply for re-registeration of old cars (on relocation).

You cannot use the car beyond 1 year (by paying 1-year tax) - unless you get it re-registered / pay life-time tax.

Please ascertain locally (Bangalore), as RTO rules vary/differ a little from state to state.
