Hi,

I am shifting from Delhi to Bangalore. I need to transfer my Wagon R too.

-What are the things that I need to complete before taking the vehicle from Delhi.

-What is the procedure for getting an NOC?

-How much time and cost would it take for getting a NOC?

-What is the procedure for registering the car in Bangalore?

-How much time and cost would it take for registering the car in Bangalore?

Awaiting your valuable response.

Once you move your vehicle to Bangalore, there are 2 things one could do (A) drive in Bangalore City without NOC, but by paying the Road Tax (B) get NOC and re-register the vehicle, pay the taxes and drive. For using the Car without having NOC, but paying the Road Tax, one has to approach the respective RTO Office with the following docs:

Proforma Invoice (showing the purchase price of the car) / RC / Emission Cert / Insurance.

The Road Tax will be calculated as follows:

Step 1. Invoice Value * 11% = Gross Road Tax amount

Step 2. Yearly depreciation at the rate of 6.5% (multiply 6.5% * your car age), if car is 5 yrs old, the depreciation allowed is 32.5%.

Step 3. From the Gross  Road Tax amount you pay 67.5% (100-32.5) as the  ROAD TAX

Now you are free to drive in Bangalore without having to worry about the cops.

I think any document where the value of the car while purchase is done would be fine. This is mentioned in the invoice along with the model & other car details (engine CC etc). Based on this the road tax is calculated. I guess you could look for the same in the RC book.

Please take NOC from Delhi. It would be very helpful for you. NOC is required not only for re-registration, but also to confirm willingness of Delhi RTO to transfer car to Bangalore RTO. Meaning that under Delhi jurisdiction, your car is not required for any accident case and that the documents are  clear for your car.

If you are the owner of the vehicle then no problem of re-registring, unless you want to sell it in Bangalore, in which case you would get a higher price in Bangalore.

It will wiser to sell the car i new delhi, than to run around RTO offices. one also ends up paying life time tax again. What is paid in delhi will be difficult to get. i am suffering. i am in bangalore with a delhi registered car. i am actually looking for some one relocating to bangalore but would like to give away his karnataka registered car.

best wishes

Hi,

I am shifted from Chandrapur (Maharashtra) to Delhi along with my Chetak Scooter & Maruti Omni Van. I also brought NOC of both from RTO-Chandrapur (Maharashtra) in favour of RTO-Delhi.

-What are the things that I need to complete ?

-What is the procedure for filing NOCs to RTO Delhi?

-How much time and cost would it take for filing NOC?

-Awaiting your valuable response.

Hi Danis,

To ease ur problem... you can drive ur car in another city for one year without re-registering, if you the NOC. Its only after 12 months that you have to get the registration done in the state u drive ur vehicle. This is as per the Motor Vehicle Act of India (http://www.vakilno1.com/bareacts/MotorVehiclesAct/Motor-Vehicles-Act.htm).

Hope this helps a bit.

Hi ,

I have bought a new Swift from haryana and want to take it to bangalore.

I dont want to pay the road tax in bangalore. So if i do pollution check every 1or 2 months , and if any traffic police will stop me then i think i shoudl not be fined as i can say i bring the car 1 month back.

I suppose in this was i can get away by not paying a huge amount of road tax in bangalore.

Please let me know if this is true.

Regards

Gaurav
