My views...

  • Running Cost: CNG, Diesel, LPG & Petrol.
  • Performance & Power: Petrol/Diesel, LPG & CNG.
  • Maintenance Cost: Petrol, Diesel, LPG & CNG.
  • Engine Longevity: Diesel, Petrol, LPG, CNG.

The above orders are in relative terms.

guys after all the above discussion ,

Can we all agreee that LPG as on now is not a viable option in any case??????

Please quote your answer.........

NO......u still can't say that !!... deciding between LPg n Cng has got to do wid "calculations ".... so depends from person to person !!

hmmm...quite informative thread!....so, is the cng winner??

Vibhor u can't say that at all.........

or if u wish to call it a winner ...u mite do so ....... ONLY for 4-5 states !!.....

dat way since der is no option ....so LPG shud b d winner ?...bt that won't b justified rite ??.....

World over...LPG is FAR more popular than CNG.

but yes...In India ....der r ALOT more factors which hav2 b  taken into consideration..which include govt policies!

Satish ...CNG may b suting u more...if

1.u stay in Metro's  (if u dont stay in a Metropolitan City...no need to read below, since CNG is not an option for u guys)

2.u're running is not less 1500 kms per month.(Minimum shud b 2000 though).

3.DO not travel more than 150 kms in one stretch !

4.Are okay with powerloss which is more than LPg.

5.Drive more in or near d city ....n not across different states!

6.Hav less luggage.. (d boot space gets reduced)

7.Have a driver,or TIME enough to stay in d long lines of d CNG pumps.

Running---totally Agree !

Performance---totally agree

Maintainence----disagree---

in my view it shud b --- Diesel>CNG>LPG>petrol   (descending order)

Engine Longevity---- Diesel>CNG=LPG>Petrol

I have Maruti Zen Vxi 2005. I have converted this to CNG with TOMASETTO kit. The result is really good and driving is really comfortable. Now with CNG economics work out is Rs.1.60/per km.

I wish I could have done this much before.

LPG reduces performance (power/pick-up) of the car by approx. 10-15% while CNG reduces by 20-15%.  This, however, depends/varies on LPG/CNG Kit, Retrofittment quality, Maintenance, etc.

Normally LPG is preferred in small cars while CNG is preferred in bigger & more powerful cars.

there is hardly any powerloss in both CNG/LPG provided you install genuine  timming advancer with the kit.
