This is a unit that I was introduced to by one of the retrofitter, brand - Rivoli.

Didn't bother to scout the net for the same. Maybe will do some research and get back to you on the same.

Haven't you come across anything like this?

LPG yes. U may use CNG too, but you may use the advancer unit which costs approx 3-4K which you can have as much as power as LPG.

Choice is yours.

timing advancer units fit along with th cng kits (which push up th total cost of a good italian cng kit to abt 43-45k) ......................... do improve th acelaration marginally in cng cars ...................... but even still it is nowhere close to th output on lpg .. which with a good kit is almost like petrol

Hi vidhur,

My apologies. The brand name is Zavoli, an Italian manufacturer. It is distributed out of Hyderabad. But the main distributors in Mumbai are Riddhi Siddhi.

Notwithstanding the running cost, overall performance of LPG cars are better than CNG cars, as, like I have said before, CNG reduces performance (power/pick-up) of the car by approx. 20-25% while LPG reduces by only 10-15%.

Besides, LPG retrofittment is known to give lesser problems / maintenance as compared to CNG retrofittment.

Performance / power / pick-up / maintenance problem etc. (LPG or CNG), however, all depends/varies on the Kit, Retrofittment quality, Maintenance, etc.

We can now convert any petrol vehicle to CNG or LPG. But the difference now is that manufacturers themselves are offering these as options. Earlier, we had to go to an authorized kit installer to convert our car, but now, we can opt for it at the dealership level itself. No, it still does not mean factory-fitted, it is an aftermarket fitment. If we want to buy a CNG or an LPG car, what choice do we have? In CNG, we have the Chevrolet Optra, the Mitsubishi Lancer and recently, the Tata Indicia and Indigo Marina. Ford India too will get onto the bandwagon, with a CNG Ikon scheduled to be introduced in the northern and western parts of the country - where the CNG distribution infrastructure is established - next month.
