Which of this is a better car in terms of safety, low maintenence and performance? I like a car which gives a SUV look as I am tall (6'2) and would require a lot of space.

Grande is much more powerful (2179 CC, 120 ps power & 250 nm torque) than Fusion (1399 CC, 68 ps power & 160 nm torque). Therefore, overall performance & driving pleasure would be better in Grande.  Maintenance-wise, Ford cars cost slightly more but is not an issue.

Grande gives mileage of 11/12 in city & 15/16 on highway while Fusion gives 14/15 in city & 18/19 on highway (depending upon the driving style & conditions).

Space-wise, though Fusion is spacious & comfortable enough (5 seater), Grande is much more (7 seater). Grande is SUV-type.
