I have taken NOC from Bangalore for my Bike and went for registration at Faridabad RTO in June 2010.  Faridabad RTO asked me to bring one confirmation letter from Bangalore RTO that the NOC is genuine.  As I was in Faridabad it took me long time to get the letter.  Finally I got the letter in February 2011.  When I went to Faridabad RTO they said that now they had stopped registration of old Bikes in Faridabad.  Now please let me know what are the options available with me?

I have no address in Bangalore to get re-registration of my Bike...

Welcome to carwale Naresh.

I think the best option for you would be to cancel your NOC in B'lore itself, sell the bike there and buy a new one in Faridabad. IMO you would not require to re-register it again in Blore as it is already registered there for now. Also check with a local agent in Blore for the other options available.

Thanks for your response.

If I cancel the NOC in Bangalore as it is more than one year old.. please let me know how much is the charges for that.

If I do not want to sell the bike.. can i drive in NCR?

I am not sure about the charges. It is better if you check with a local agent.

You can drive it in NCR but the cops will pull you over again and again for having a KA number plate in NCR. If you are so keen on driving the bike there I would suggest you find an agent in NCR and ask himi how the bike can be transferred to NCR from Blore

Hi Anshu,

Very informative information above the NOC cancillation after expiration.

I have one more question in my mind. Situation explained below..

 * I take the NOC from state A.

 * And submit the NOC in state B to pay only the road tax (and I do not reregister in state B)

 * I stay in state B for 2-3 years and come back in state A

Now at the time of taking clearance from state B (since it's required to cancel the expired NOC in state A), would the RTA in state B be complaining about not re-registering the vehicle?

What could be other problems?

Thanks a lot

What is the fee for cancellation of NOC? Is it a fixed amount or depends on State, numbers of years that have passed after it is issued?
I could not find any such info on Pune's RTO site here http://www.rtopune.info/rtofees.htm . Any information on this?
I have two situations:
1. Car registration is from Bangalore. NOC taken from Bangalore in 2009 (don't remember month). Wanted to register here in Pune. Paid tax here and wanted to do registration. But changed mind, thinking to go back to Bangalore, so did not register. The RTO agent (middle money man  Smile) said entry is made accordingly in RTO, so can go back to Blr, cancel NOC and no further problems. Now, its been more than 1 yr for that, I am still in Pune and want to sell my car. Here's my thought process:

  • register the car in Pune,
  • get rid of hypothecation (letter from bank also expired, need to get that letter again)
  • sell in Pune itself.

Am I on the right track? Would now registration be a problem since I have gone through that procedure in past and came out without registering it? I have just about 1 month to do all this.

2. Bike registration from Mumbai. Taken NOC for Bangalore. Never registered there. Came to pune about 5.5 yrs back. Now want to sell it here. If I tell this story to buyers, they will take off Smile. Even if I manage to sell, & the buyer wants to transfer on his name, it would be problematic.

So what are my options here?

1. Sell off bike cheap, 2. ask buyer (locals) to manage/not register it? 3. Cancel NOC (how much money??) and then sell?

Again, all of this has to be done in a month or so.
(I am scheduled to go abroad in 1-2 months for long term, so thats the hurry.) I know I am in a mess  Cry, but want to get out of this soon. Kindly opine.

Hi Friends,

Please clarify me with the following doubt.

I have purchased a new bike from Nagpur (Maharashtra) in Jan, 2009. In Dec, 2009 i have moved from Nagpur to Chandigarh. At that time i issued a NOC from Nagpur RTO to Chandigarh RTO and taken my bike to chandigarh. I was in chandigarh for 6 months and in that time i have not submitted the NOC in chandigarh RTO and after 6 month i moved to Gurgaon. Now its almost 1.5 years, i am staying at Gurgaon. Now i have to move to Hyderabad. I heard that the traffic rules are quite striict in Hyderabad and whenever somone with outstation registration bike caught by police they asks for NOC and Road Tax. Now i am planning to pay the road tax in hyderabad.

Please advice me how can i proceed with, based on my situation. I am not having enough time as i have to move to hyderabad soon in next 5-6 days.

@ shalu: u should go to Nagpur RTO and get the NOC cancelled and take a fresh NOC for Hyderabad. dont tell him that u took the bike to the North. that could get u into troubles. take some agents help in Nagpur for this.

@ ghanshyam: cancel the NOC of ur car and bike in Blore and Mumbai resply. sell the car in Blore as u ll get a better price for it there. If u want to take ur bike to Blore, take fresh NOC else sell it in Maharastra.

@ Nitesh: if u have submitted the NOC, then u should get it re registered automatically. but if u are still running with old no plate, then it could cause problems. if NOC is not submitted, then get back to old state and cancel the NOC.

sure, you can check with an RTO agent in Nagpur who could help in sorting things out there.
