Hi Friends,

Is it true that Maruti is offering a special discount on petrol Wagon R till March 31.

I just heard some 2000 off + JVC MP3 player and insurance off.

This is Mumbai news.

Does anyone know what is the MP3 player like and is it really worth the offer.

Also how come the exshowroom price of Wagon R has not dropped or very insignificant drop after Budget.

Also anybody knowing dealer in mumbai who will give any speciall offer on free accessories with purchase of new car. I have to buy one asap.

Also any suggestion on a minimum/essential  list of accessories that should be bought from dealer with the car and others which should be done outside for a WagonR LXI model.

Thanks in advance..

All cars are presently offering good discount in some form or the other.  The discount/offer referred by you is worth around 18K & is not bad.  All this is to boost the sale in March, as due to excise cut of 4% on small cars (effective 1st April), people tend to postpone their purchases till April.

The other accessories that you can easily bargain for free from the dealer are small ones like floor-mats, perfume bottle, mud-guards, a couple of CDs (if they have), body cover etc.  Seat-covers, Sunfilms, Central Lock & other expensive accessories in all probability will not be given free by the dealer but you can try for a good discount - else can purchase them from outside (reputed shop).

Music system provided with maruti is JVC model no. 336.
Dont try to find this on the internet as it is a custom order for marui.
Its an entry lvl system. Rs.5500 mrp (as claimed by the company)
wont cost more than Rs.3500 outside.

I tried to bargain a lot from all the dealers in mumbai. No one is ready to give ne freebies or any extra discounts.
Antirust and teflon coating is done by the company for 8K (4k each).
u can easily get it done from outside for 2.5k-3.0k
All accessories are quite expensive at maruti (around 50%- 100%)
So its up to u if u like to shell out the extra buck.

Also any suggestion on a minimum/essential  list of accessories that should be bought from dealer with the car and others which should be done outside for a WagonR LXI model.

I would suggest you to get the security system installed by the dealer - the reason being that it involves working with the car's electrical system. Don't go for the music system - you will get better choices else where - the model in question is an entry level model - you can get that outside also and installing a music system is relatively easier when compared to installation of a security system. All other accessories can be done outside.

I don't know which dealer you are dealing with but, what I have observed is that in Mumbai there are a few dealers who quite blotted prices for accessories - Spectra Motors at borivali is one such guy - he would state a higher cost and then reduce the price so as to make you feel happy about it - happened to me - the initial estimate he gave was 44,500 which he subsequently reduced to 35000. Later, I have realised that the same set of accesories were available at another dealer (Sai Service, Andheri) for 27,000 and outside for 20,000 - it ofcourse depends on a lot of things but still, I felt the Spectra guy was blotting the prices. I eventually settled for a few accesories at Sai service and rest from outside.

Regards,

K Prasad

Considering the current economic climate the offer might well continue into the next month-but then it may not.

To add... normally discounts are not withdrawn abruptly - it's gradually phased out – unless in case of special discounts announced with time frame.  The dealers do have an idea of future discounts - see if they can oblige to share with you.

In my case the dealer told me he would give me the 20,000 April discount and if discount gets higher in May then he would give me May discount....negotiate hard, in this economic climate anything is possible in terms of discounts....

I have booked a Zen Estillo, the delivery is scheduled for the 15th this month, Since it is a new model there is no dealer discount provided and no freebies(Accessories), any other ways to get the best for my car??? When should i negotiate while taking the delivery or while handing over the PDC's??
