good morning readers of carwale.com

this is madhusudan desai from pondicherry kick starting a new thread on recreational vehicles which is a growing concept that travellers across india will love exploring as it opens up new vistas of travel and adventure.

travelling has its own set of discomforts. perhaps overnight stays at hotels often do not provide what one really wants. either the rooms or the tariff or the locations are not what we want after a long and tiring day and searching for the right place often takes its own sweet time.

so what can be done....

perhaps travelling in a recreational vehicle may enhance the travelling experience and make the journey more comfortable and memorable as one can stop almost anywhere and spend the night in ones own creature comforts of a recreational vehicle designed as per one's requirements.

we are now working on designing a recreational vehicle that would allow us to travel across the country exploring the rich cultural heritage of our diaspora in comforts of a personalised recreational vehicle that would have all basic amenities like a sofa cum bed, mini kitchen, a shower and loo, microwave, fridge, solar panels, audio video, etc., these could be built on an open chassis on an eicher, ashok leyland, a tempo traveller, a tata 4x4 or whatever else. for techno geeks gprs/gps, satellite tv, internet et all can be envisaged to make their travel experience more techie oriented and enjoyable. the options are endless....

we are planning to travel across india for a period of one year in an recreational vehicle customised to our requirements and are open to discussions pertaining to this mode of travel that we believe will open new vistas hitherto unseen in india.

we would be pleased to hear from you and hopefully the concept of travelling in an recreational vehicle shifts into the first gear and this new topic of discussion on carwale.com would conceptualise into a new dimension of travel across the country.

see you all on the highways......

thanks
madhusudan desai

Dear Mr. Chitte,
Welcome on board and we would be happy to share our thoughts with you regarding the development and designing of a recreational motorhome that we are working to build on a Tempo Traveller chassis.

There are lots of options and you should decide what sort of facilities you are looking at and what are your priorities. How many people are going to travel in your motorhome and how long you would like to travel. There are lots and lots of permutations and combinations possible and you need to decide what suits best your lifestyle. Once you can get to decide what you require then we can help you design one.

Where are you located and when would you like to start.

Regards.
Madhusudan Desai

Hi Madhu,

It is indeed an interesting topic. As you said, Recreation vehicle is a growing concept, and we do see a rise in demand. I've also started working on design and development of RV very recently. I'd be interested to explore more and share many things. User's input and suggestions can help us a lot in coming out with better designs.

Regards
Shah

Dear Shahbaba,

Welcome on board.

Options on designing an RV are a plenty. Best is to make a list of priorities that you would like to have on your RV and then narrow down to what you really need based on your budget.

The first choice is to understand whether you want to build on a chassis or not. Once you decide on this then you can start planning and executing your dream plans to create your custom designed vehicle.

What platform have you chosen and where are you located?

Regards.

hello there.

we shall be buying a tempo traveler here in calcutta and tour with it (4 ppl) around the country. the problem is where to find the interior fittings. options like DC customisation is too far fetched for us.. i can get sofa cum beds table etc fabricated here in calcutta.. possibly 12 volt tv screen and music system wont be such a problem  either.

But what im struggling is with how to make a toilet? those airline kind of cubicles? i can have a water tank fabricated for water supply but what i need to know is what are these toilet units for luxury coaches called. i cannot even find the correct phrase to search on google which is yeilding almost nothing.

could anyone help me as to where i can buy one of these cubicle toilet units? or what  is it called?
also a lil kicthen table unit with a heater.

my email id is rajiv_palit at yahoo dot com

Hi Rajiv,

Did you try by searching Casette Toilets? Casette toilets are widely used it seems. Probably you might have tried. Just for info I'm adding - Did you check Vacuum toilets, chemical toilets??

Regards

Shah
