Iam buying a Fiat Adventure, Can I fit the CNG KIT from the very minute i buy the car, very well being aware that I loose the complete manufacturing warranty of it. I drive about 600 kms. in a week. Should I fit and risk my warranty?

Dear Raj,

We never encourage people to go against warranty when your car is almost new. Warranty is a must to have thing and must not be taken lightly. But you can do one thing, you can consult your dealer if he can fit CNG-kit without voiding the warranty? If he agrees, its great otherwise get CNG-kit fitted after a few months. Let the engine run and settle properly. Make sure that there is no manufacturing defect in the car and if everything is fine, go for the kit. Don't take risk immediately after buying the car. We know that your running is very high but its okay if you waste a few thousands extra on petrol for three-four months.

Dear Sir, Thank you for your response, My dealer Wasan Motors (Borivali) is ready to fit CNG Kit and provide me with their own warranty as the waranty of the Fiat India would become void. So My question to your goodself is "How can Wasan Motors (Borivali)ensure me the waranty?" Is this a carrot thrown to me to simply sell the car at any cost gimmick.

Dear Raj,

You are not the only one who is being offered such illegal CNG-kits. Dealers across brands and country are doing exactly same thing. No manufacturer is allowing them to fit CNG/LPG kits but they are providing it on their own. Now if the dealer is big enough then risk factor goes down, as he is big, is there in this field for a long time and can be trusted for his sayings. But if dealer is small, such offers are almost suicidal! Wasan Motors is ensuring you warranty in anticipation that if something goes wrong they will fool the Fiat India around and get you good after-sales-service. They might do it. Its one of the biggest dilemma and not going for such offers is better bid.

In your case, since you are already all set to go for kit knowing the fact that warranty will void then its a boon for you that someone is assuring you that warranty will not void. If something goes wrong dealer is there. I think you can accept this offer.

Dear Sir, On the contrary I will go by your earlier advice and get CNG fitted after 10000kms. But I was shocked today by the brutal honesty of the Fiat Car sales representative (not by Wasan Motors as it is Tata dealer, but an actual old Fiat Dealer in Mumbai) when he clearly mentioned that I would probably get married to the car as it would be higly impossible to sell it after few years. What is your take on his honest confession?

Dear Raj,

Its upto you, anyways its safer.

Well, we cannot say what was on his mind when you told you this. We have two take-ons on this saying 'you will get married to it'. 1. It might give you such a overwhelming feeling that you never intend to sell it off. Car is really great but its unfortunate thing is that it has a Fiat badge. 2. Yes, if Fiat conditions go worse, all Indians who have bought Fiats will suffer, virtually no one would agree to buy it then. Chances of later case are fifty-fifty but we have a strong feeling that Fiat may make a come-back.

Finally, Raj, if you are too particular about resale, don't buy a Fiat at all. Buy it for its performance, robustness and driving pleasure.

Dear Sir, The way you say :- ""Buy it for its performance, robustness and driving pleasure."" makes me want to have this car right now, and right now it's 10.10pm. We have always been children at heart only our toys have changed. I hope this toy turns out good, as I have gone from a Sumo to a Indica to an Esteem and then this present Indigo in these last six years and have'nt been satisfied by either of them. Thankyou very much and I guess you and only you sold this car to me. Thank you .
