A versa for 2 lakhs that has been used considerably and more so as a transport vehicle is certainly not worth the money. And Ambassador is a past glory these days.

Sincerely, for the kind of money being discussed here, you are sure to get a Tata Indica in a very good condition for the same age as that of the versa.

Talking about the options over here, among the second hand cars, go for either santro or a Wagon R. These are the best in terms of going for a second hand car and I am sure you will find a lot of these for the kind of budget in question. suggest you to go for first choice or the Maruti true Value ones - these are recommended as they come with some terms of warranty and there is a peace of mind in terms of the quality of the car and the way it has been used and serviced by its owner.

Regards,

K Prasad

better dont venture for the versa as tourist vehicles are used real bad as the drivers are not concerned about the condition of the car. you may not even know if they have serviced regularly.my honest opinion is do not go in for the versa or for that matter any tourist car.

the avigo is an outdated model now.you may get many other recent cars for the price.you have not mentioned how would be your driving conditions and what is your budget for the purchase. if you give us all a clear picture of the situation we may be able to help you better.

as for the query on license a person with the license for a private LMV is not allowed to drive a tourist car.you have to obtain a commercial LMV license to drive a tourist car

Thanks prasad for your response...

Amby i know is a thing of the past but the avigo model sure looks OK .... further i dont want to buy a TATA car as i already have an indica and i dont want to buy any tata car now.....

also wagon R and santro are pretty small vehicle ...and yes if i ever want to buy these small hatchbacks then i would rather buy NEW..... i just came across these 2 car ads in times drive so was thinking of trading my indica in exchange for these 2 vehicles.... i also might want to use it to transport my Paper bags  or sometimes whn we have guests to pick up .......in case of versa ... or even avigo has a nice dicky space behind....

i was considering Avigo as it has been driven only 20,000 kms and amby looks reliable though outdated... and yes its a petrol car.... surfing the net shows positive results for both these cars hence i was wondering what car should i consider.... also the price for both of them is nearly 2 lacs.... so i might have to put only a couple of bucks more to upgrade ......

so what do you suggest between these 2 options.... or i guess you want me to DROP both ....

thanks

sumeet with private license that you(i assume you have ) it will not be possible for you to drive the versa in any case. so i think that option can be dropped right away.so the only option left from the ones that you have specified is the avigo. if possible try and look around for more cars in the same price range(i suppose you have budget of 2 lacs).if you are lucky you may find some good models.you can also use the used cars search in carwale.com.

In my opinion, if Versa is in good condition, you may consider it ahead of Avigo, as it will serve your purpose better in terms of your usage of transporting & picking-up guests. If it is well kept / maintained, the kms driven is not a big issue - in fact, commercial cars are better maintained than private cars in a way.  Besides, it will be costing you less.

Regarding, taxi/commercial passing, you can very well convert the same in to private passing by undergoing the requisite formalities & paying the RTO fees.  It is not a big deal - you can manage it very easily through an agent.

I beg to differ with you on this pankaj. many of the commercial vehicles are purchased by people and given to some others for driving. the drivers are in no way concerned about the condition of the car whatsoever as they do not own the car. many a times they over load the car with people and luggage beyond the specified capacity. this will definately affect the cars well being. that is the reason i suggest not to go in for commercial vehicles. ofcourse there maybe a handfull of well maintained cars but then thats a matter of luck to get one like that i guess

Ironically, though you may disagree with me, I agree with you ;-)

Jokes apart, what I actually mean / have stated is that IF the condition is good & the car has been well kept / maintained (otherwise not), prefer it ahead of Avigo as it will serve the purpose better - you never know, it could be one of those handful well maintained cars. Anyway

absolutely true.sumeet , as pankaj says if the car is in good condition you might as well give it a try.but do remember to ask for service records and also check for any accident cases or any other legal problems against the car before venturing for the purchase.

All the Best

Cheers

Yes, that's pre-requisite for all cars - may it be Verna or Avigo or any other. Once you finalise / buy, please post here your experience in detail - it will benefit all. Thanks.

Happy & safe motoring. Cheers to all.
