I have converted my 1999 Honda City with an authorised LPG kit. Everything was fine for 2 years and now I am facing the following problem. The RPM goes below the 1K mark and touches almost Zero in idling condition. As a result of this the A/C gets switched off.

I went to the Honda Showroom and they said that this is a problem with some "head" in the engine which controlls the RPM.

Can anyone throw some light on the RPM settings and how to resolve this problem?

Hi Yogesh I also have similar problem

I have a Tata indigo marina , fitted with LPG, metering 42000 KM , On LPG I have driven 22000Km with out any problem , Know I am facing some invariant  problems

>My petrol fuel pump stopped working I had taken it to tata service center but they told me they will not accept LPG fitted car and gave me the number were they rectify the fuel pump, I had taken the car , the mechanic troubleshoot ted   and told me that Pump is ok it is problem with ECB, the new ECB will cost around 15000 but the same ECB can be rectified by paying 7000 for which I agreed . ECB was rectified and fitted in the car it worked good for 150KM , after which the new problem started

> when the car is running I can feel its misfire , huge amount of carbon comes out of silencer and oil burn smell as if I am driving the car in diesel , I suspected the petrol should have been  adulterated , so I cleaned the petrol tank ,  and filled with new petrol, also checked density of petrol in the petrol bunk .the sparkplug was also cleaned

when I start the car weather in petrol or gas the RPM almost goes

“0 “ and the car switch off , and the  carbon problem repeat

Can any one help me in sorting out the problem?

Regards

Sujath

at th outset ............ rpm fluctuation is not usually a problem caused by lpg............ if at al th prob is coz of improper wiring at th time of fitting th kit ...... th prob wil occur soon thereafter .. not much later

petrol supply problem at th fuel pump or at th injector cud also cause this problem

likewisw memory loss or fault at th ecb (also referred to as ecm) cud also b th cause . if it is memory loss ..... it can b reprogrammed again at a very nominal cost ...... mayb under a thosand rupees only

but mostly th fault is wot they call ...... faulty IC Valve ... which is fit sumwhere near th head or th throttle of th engine ......... this usually has to b replaced and cud cost anything from 2k to 20k depending on model

Hi Yogesh,

As you had the LPG kit for 2 years and you had no issues then, then its unlikely that the LPG kit could be an issue.

This is an ideal problem when there is a thick carbon deposit in the throttle area. Have your mechanic remove the throtte assay and clean the entire thing with a throttle cleaner.

Follow these steps:-

1. Get you LPG kit serviced.

2. Have the throttle body removed and serviced.

3. Have your injectors cleant.

This should solve the problem.

If the problem still persists then, then it is due to a faulty IAC or Sensor.

Let me know if this helps arrest the problem.

th problem of rpm fluctuation is distinctly an engine problem

lpg servicing cannot solve rpm problem

likewise ... injectors are related exclusively to petrol supply ....... but here th problem is on lpg ... so injector cleaning also cannot solve rpm problem

th problem lies in th throttle head ......... either impurities ... or th sensor/valve

Sure it can be.

But servicing is just a precaution to have all the issue rectified.

Hi friends, I have Indica Xeta Jan 2007 Model. I retrofitted it with closed loop LPG system. Immediately after 400 km ECU (Electronic Control Unit) (ECB/ECM) failed. There may be software error as mentioned in earlier threads, however dealer charged me Rs. 14000 for new ECU. Then I removed LPG system. Now a famous LPG retrofitter in Mumbai says he will fit open loop LPG system in my car. Which will not interfere with ECU and will protect it.

He said that Honda City, Ford Icon and Xeta has genuine problem that their ECU fails with LPG. However over the experience he has learned how to protect ECU of these cars.

Now I dont believe all this. What do u people say.

Who was the retrofitter?

You need to be cautious as to which person you go to for fitting the same. Most of them are scamsters. It's worth paying that 15% more to an authorized retrofitter.

even i hv heard of th ecu problen in xeta .................. so whenever i c a xeta at th filing station i ask them ........................... n th 3 of those who claimed to b hapy were all on open loop ............................ so it may b that xeta has problems with th closed loop ..................

and definitely there is sum method of fitting it successfully if 3 xeta owners claim they r happy since months ......................... u need to find out friend

also i agree with ralston .................... there r fly-by-night operators galore .................... so do go to only an established reputed experienced and authorised fitter
