Dear All,

I would like to know something about OBD II compatibility with Indian Cars.

- Are Indian Car engines compatible to OBD II standard?

- Are there any software available which I can use to change the car performance using OBD II connector and software?

I need more information on the same subject if somebody can provide me either links for software, etc.

Regards,

Sachin

Presently Indian cars are not compatible with OBD (On-Board Diagnostics).  The Government plans to introduce OBD-I norms for passenger cars from April 2010, and tougher OBD-II from 2013.

All cars have sensors that turn on the ‘Check Engine Light’ when some malfunction/fault is diagnosed.

No, I'm not aware of it.  I understand that Digimoto is OBD diagnostic software.  Regarding it's use on non-OBD cars, I hope someone else is able to post some information here.

ODBII is present in many indian cars. ( my 4 year old palio has it ) any MPFI car should have an OBD port. maybey the older one but it will have a diagnostic port.

Sir, I have bought hyundai santro xing xp car in the year 2005. I want to know which OBDII protocol my car uses for diagnostic purposes. It has a OBD connector with pins 4,5,7,8,15,16. I want to know whether the car is OBDII compliant and if so which protocol it uses for diagnostics. Can you please tell me?

Do Indian cars follow OBDII standards?

Recently ,I went to a hyundai service center , where they used a "GScan" tool to find any problem in my car. They bought the tool from korea itseems. I saw them diagnose my car.

I am able to find some voltage around 4v in the 15th pin , but no vaoltage in the 7th pin and around 12v from 16th pin. What conclusions can we draw from the above?

Most of the new manufactured cars have the OBD II system.

OBD I was designed just to control pollution. OBD II came into picture as it does a lot more like cruise control, etc etc including controlling the pollution.

@Sachin

If I'm not mistaken the older Palio had OBD I system. Don't know about the Palio NV series and hence forth.

I tried this and I had understeer, I tried that and I had oversteer, at the end of the corner I just ran out of talent!
