I don't think you need to get NOC for a temp. relocation of 3 months.

A PUC certificate of Chennai - obtained just before arriving to Delhi - may help.  If you are on deputation, your employer's certificate would also help - OR anything of the sort.

In any case, you should be in a position to convince the traffic police.

As per rules the RTO is supposed to inspect the vehicle before issuing NOC.  So, they normally insist.  However, see if you can manage through some agent or RTO Official known to you.

I have a typical question

I have abike in kerala bought in 2004 in my fathers name.when i got a job  in chennai i asked him to send bike to me. he has taken NOC from kerala. and send me the documents and bike. due to my tight work schedule i didnt get enough time to approach RTO  and my NOC got expired. My father has surrendered the RC book in kerala and he has been told that it will be send to chennai. in the address given he didnt mention the location in chennai. he just mentioned chennai. so i dont know which location RTO in chennai it has gone. no am getting transfered to banglore also and i want to take my bike with me.so how will i approach this issue now?? please help me . thanks in advance for your advice

In the given situation, now it's better to get the bike transferred directly to Bangalore (forget Chennai).  You will have to approach Kerala RTO & get the NOC in favour of Chennai RTO cancelled.  It's necessary (though it has expired) in order to first revalidate registration in Kerala itself.  Thereafter, take a fresh NOC in favour of Bangalore.

Hi Anand

I am also in same situation as yours, how did you get Non Migration Certificate. Were you able to do it successfully.

Hello All,

I had taken a NOC from the Chennai RTO in March'07 when I moved to Bangalore but haven't used it yet. I have been driving under my TN registration without any problems in Bangalore. I have now decided to sell my car in Chennai since I heard that if I re-register the car value goes down considerably.

When I asked a dealer in Chennai he said that since I have the NOC endorsement in my RC book I would need to get a "non-migration certificate" or something of that sort from the Bangalore RTO stating that the car did not come to Bangalore RTO for registration. Has anyone successfully got this kind of a certificate from any RTO in Bangalore or anywhere in India ? If so, please let me know of the procedure.

Thanks in Advance
Anand
